View Full Version : good backup server?
caseman 07-15-2002, 07:57 PM I just purchased a server from rackspace a few days ago and man was the server good. I just purchased another server from Zerosetup.com for $49 a month for backup. Price is pretty good for backup server. Anyone found any other merchants offering cheaper? Although I regret the high price I paid at rackspace when I could have gotten 7 times the dedicated servers, it is done deal :(.

Alareach 07-15-2002, 08:04 PM You may not regret the price you paid at rackspace when you need support... or when you keep hearing about other people having network trouble. Then all of a sudden, the price is not so bad ;)
lotuslnd 07-15-2002, 10:35 PM $49? holy cripes ... that's kinda crazy. how's it been so far?
maxbear 07-15-2002, 10:52 PM Woo! $49! What kind of connections they have? But really cheap, 400GB transfer and 80GB HD. Very good for backup.

C2 I will file a chargeback after 30 days because your service is poor. What will you do?

when you click on the details link there is no 80 gig hd system for $49.
and all the systems have at least $299 setup which is funny since the name of the site is zerosetup.com
they say they have a special with $0 setup so which one is it?

if they have have been the world's most popular webhost why would they need a new name? :D
StevenG 07-16-2002, 06:58 AM From their site:-
"To keep costs low, we also do all support via instant messaging software such as the infamous AOL Instant messenger, ICQ, MSN Messenger, and Trillian. No web hosting company on the internet can offer prices as low as Zerosetup because they simply do not yet have the technology allowing them to do so. By being the first company on the "technology treadmill" we are able to lower our marginal cost per hosting account thanks to a direct link to hardware manufacturers and automation tools. Shop around and compare and you will see that Zerosetup has the most complete web hosting package on the net for the lowest price anywhere"

K1. If I was on the old plan, and you guys raise prices will I be forced to pay the difference
To prevent higher prices in the future, we offer an option for you pay up to 10 years in advanced.
That means unless you pay for 10 years in advanced they can higher the prices for $50/mo to $300/mo and you'll have to keep paying that since you have to make 1 year contract. Unless you pay $6000 in advanced for that small server.
LMFAO
If you read their faq, most questions sound freaky and easy to make customers into RIP-OFF!

If we were to do this we would get massive cancellation. We are not here to get your frustrated. We are here to help our customers and keep them happy.
We are trying to say we dont offer price protection. That does not mean we will raise the price to $159/month or $300/month. If we did we would receive many cancellation. (We raised the price of our web hosting product by 1 dollar for 1 month and even for $1 more a month we had a lot of cancellation) So this is something you do not have to be affraid of. We will do our best to keep the prices the same. We are to keep you happy so you will stay with us not to rip you off so you can cancel and go to another provider.
ZeroSetup 07-21-2002, 04:47 AM ..........Dedicated. "quote" I am still waiting to hear from them
Dedicated did you get everything you need to complete the server? The contract?
-------------------
We have also included prices for additional RAMS, MEMORY, Harddrive upgrades on the web site.
We are working on a pricing plan with Hsphere, we are trying to include HSPHERE for FREE but it is still under negotiation. We will post further notice next week once the meeting with PSOFT is complete.
