I am a reseller and my host uses WebHost Manager/Cpanel. I had an incident with a client where in less than 24 hours, he used up 24GB of bandwidth by hosting a music video....(he gave an FTP account to a friend who used it to host the video).
Well, since WHM only updates once a day, his account was not suspended in time.....and I got the bill for exceeding my reseller bandwidth and I in turn, billed the client. Thankfully he paid the bill.
What I need to know after explaining that, is --- Is there a way WHM can be updated more frequently?
I am currently trying another host who uses Ensim. I don't like the Ensim control panel at all....but supposedly it updates more frequently than WHM.
Anyone out there have a solution? Please?

Anyone? This is an issue for not just resellers but for Dedicated Server hosts, etc.....
Bandwidth not caught in less than 24 hours can pile up without the account being suspended until the time when WHM decides to update (usually at midnight).....one 40MB file has created 24GB of bandwidth in less than 24 hours.....and I was dinged for it due to a "flaw" in the program which doesn't update often enough.....

I was recently caught in the same situation (was only 16GB though) and agree, it'd be nice to avoid these type situations.
What I don't agree with is that you say this is a "flaw" in the CP, which it is not. WHM/Cpanel is designed to use what's called a "soft limit" which acts as you describe -- updated once a day. Now there is lots I don't know about WHM and Apache/Perl, but I have surmized (hopefully correctly ;)) that it is designed that way as it only requires "mod_bwlimited" to work -- a common install on most all Unix/Linx Servers.
To use the "hard limit" feature (immediate rejection of anything over pre-set Data Transfer limit) would require "mod_perl" which most Servers do not have and would put a limitation on selling the CP. I've never installed "mod_perl" so don't know if difficult or not, but know of one person who tried to and ending with screwing up their Server.
I too, would like to know more on this subject, but as cpanel.net no longer has a Forum and this seems to be along the lines of a "rocket science" question, I do the best I can with what I've got. Until I find out more, that is.

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree on what we consider "flaws".....Microsoft has a nice word for these too -- "features"....but that doesn't mean I accept it.....*grin*
In this case I guess I have to wait until I can find a host who has "mod_perl" installed and is able to get their WebHost Manager updated more often than once a day......
I really hope there are some people out there with solutions to this that a "Reseller" can do or suggest our hosts do.....if at all feasible.....I would pay a couple extra dollars a month for this feature....it would save me money in the long run. I don't sit at my computer 24/7 just checking my clients accounts.....I do from time to time for purposes of the TOS....but that's only if something is brought to my attention.... :look:

Thanks a bunch a:\
I have no idea where you saw it and the "Support Forums" link still points back to the front page, but I'm glad you passed it on.
