View Full Version : Yahoo SM vs Google Ads, which is better to put up on site?
Quintox 05-27-2007, 05:21 PM Which generates more revenue if you want to put up them on your website?
Now I am not talking about me buying a clicky, but having them in my margins of my website.
Reflections 05-28-2007, 03:52 AM I think google ads will give you more revenue as it is the largest search engine.
alex-developer 05-28-2007, 04:50 AM I think google ads too.
ZaxiHosting 05-28-2007, 05:00 AM Adsense of course.

Expert5 05-31-2007, 08:47 AM Google Adsense pays more, but it all depends on the content of the website and your traffic.
steven-v 05-31-2007, 01:21 PM This is NOT TRUE, Yahoo Publisher Network pays MUCH better then Google Adsense and also Google Adsense REDUCED payouts to their Adsense Publishers recently - before we got average about $0.25/click - right now it's only $0.11 - which cut income more then in half. Read other web master forums - EVERYBODY complaint about it.
Plus Adsense will going to "clean-up" a lot of "useless" adsense publishers soon - so, either way Yahoo Publishing Network will be better.
I LOVE google, but Adsense programm for small publishers going downhill now...
Quintox 05-31-2007, 03:22 PM Can anyone else confirm what steven said?
Google Adsense pays more, but it all depends on the content of the website and your traffic.
Yes he is right, but YPN too pays u more and it also depends upon traffic and content of the website.

No the income u get from a click depends upon the impressions too and it differs from publisher to publisher.
For instance , If a hosting company ad is click in WHT , then he is paid more when compared to your website.
1. As Traffic differs
2. Impressions differ
I also agree that YPN pays equal to that of google, u can go for anyone.
Reflections 06-15-2007, 07:42 AM Google adsense will pay you more
Bannaz 06-16-2007, 12:10 PM Adsense - biggest and most successful link advertisement company. :)
creativeartist 06-18-2007, 04:30 AM It is sure that adsense is paying more than yahoo
neoxx121 06-20-2007, 03:26 AM i think google adsense is better. they pay u more
fastnoc 06-20-2007, 03:28 AM See I keep seeing people say 'google!' but nobody yet has replied with any statistical information to back it up (Steven is the exception).
Without justification I dont see how any other of these responses are worth anything.
Toufique Ahmed 06-20-2007, 08:11 AM I will go for google adsense........it really generates more revenue then anything else!
mdburton 06-20-2007, 10:40 AM how much have any of you made off adsense (google)
weekly monthly whatever
also say your HONEST traffic flow
I have a 'lowish' traffic site with only like 2,000 unique users per day and believe 12million pages have been viewed since the 1st of this month
i dont run ads on my site, but i have been thinking of making them show up for people that dont donate to my site to pay for costs
site is ranked at 529,000 on alexa.com and should keep moving closer to a better rank every week at least for the next year

Exactly what I was thinking. I'd like some numbers. If anyone has Google, plz give some info on what you make/visitors if you don't mind
RobertMaltby 06-20-2007, 11:54 AM I have been running YPN for close to a year now.. and I make anywhere from $.50 to $1.25 CPC...
I have used Adsense for my Foreign and I make about $.10 (AT BEST) CPC.. Not sure how it looks now as I havent used Adsense in quite some time now..
Quintox 06-20-2007, 12:04 PM CPC? Clicks per...?
Anyway, looks like Yahoo paid you a lot more...I might try them.
RobertMaltby 06-20-2007, 12:08 PM Im sorry, I meant PPC (Pay Per Click).. I was just updating one of my .docs and wrote CPC alot in it.
unknown00 06-20-2007, 12:29 PM applied to yahoo about a week ago haven't heard back :(
mdburton 06-20-2007, 04:34 PM lol
doesnt look like anyone has comments about googles?
i realize how much someone makes might be not relevant to my site, but i just want to see how much, if it is less than $100 a month I'm not going to deal with it since that doesn't even cover server costs for me
mdburton 06-20-2007, 05:19 PM word, is that $40 so far this month? so far since the site was created?
; )
also how much page views do you think you get on your site, im just trying to get something to compare my site to not trying to be nosy
Reflections 06-21-2007, 07:46 AM The possible reason may be the checking of ip address. If more than one clicks form a particular IP address to the links, then google count it as one click and also google uses other techniques for controling the click spam.
mdburton 06-21-2007, 11:49 AM any more input about google ads?
yea im sure the do filter the clicks it is only smart to do so
If I added ad's to my site im sure some idiot that is online all day will click them just because he thinks he is helping the site out, but ill have to test it.
I ran google ads once before on a new site i created for about 2 weeks and it generated 79 cents but that was only with REALLY low amounts of traffic...
I'm probably going to test this out and give specific statistics about it on my site, but if others can give theirs also we can work out a good average = )
SoccerBulldog08 07-02-2007, 04:53 PM From everything I have heard AdSense is going to bring in more money. You could always test both. I am sticking with AdSense.
mdburton 07-08-2007, 10:05 PM Ok here is my review after 15 days
I've made 12,986 impressions (the ads don't show on every page in fact less than 1%) I'm increasing the ads to more pages now after today...
Anways here are the FACTS
12,986 impressions 57 clicks which made $9.67
This is roughly 74 cents per 1000 views of the ad
so if i put it on every page of my site which last month got 1525618 page views...
So if I had this good of luck on every page then I would make $1128.95 a month
But, I doubt me placing the ad on every page would mean more ad clicks, but if i even made 1/10th that amount a month that i estimated ($1128.95) that would still be fine with me ; )
maybe ill test it out one month in the future and post the result here...
HOPE this helps you guys out!
PeterJohnson54 07-10-2007, 05:47 PM Nice too see some facts !
Reflections 07-24-2007, 08:40 AM Nice information.
I didn't use Yahoo so far, since I am an international publisher, but google was OK so far. Not too well paid, but still OK
kampoo 07-25-2007, 09:14 PM I used both google adword, yahoo search marketing and Msn adcenter.
Then I get more visitor volume.
Web Helper 07-26-2007, 07:56 AM Does anybody know how effective Microsoft Ad center is?
Aliniuz 07-26-2007, 09:09 AM Google Ads is far more reliable than Microsoft's. This is why the popularity range goes to Google, in web advertising area.
andygen 07-27-2007, 02:08 AM I think it will depence. Just c how well you femiliar with it. But now days more and more visitors knowing those thing are ads and they not really willing click one it any more.
triphp 08-02-2007, 04:33 AM I think Adwords is on top. That's because there are many publishers (Adsense puilishers) of Adwords therefore you have more exposure.
Quintox 08-02-2007, 10:21 AM It's just that it's true what andygen said, everyone knows they are ads and won't click on them, which sucks.
Reflections 08-04-2007, 08:29 AM It depends on the click on your site and the traffic clicking on it.
flocker 08-07-2007, 06:04 PM it depends on the language of the site :) but google is my personal fav.
GNAX - Terrence 08-07-2007, 07:32 PM I would say go with google.. they bring instant traffic to your site at a very good price.
fastnoc 08-07-2007, 09:38 PM Google's AdSense doesn't bring traffic to your site. I think you're thinking about Google's AdWords.
Reflections 08-08-2007, 05:51 AM Yes, adsence gives you ROI more for your business.
GNAX - Terrence 08-08-2007, 10:46 AM Google's AdSense doesn't bring traffic to your site. I think you're thinking about Google's AdWords.
this is correct.
Reflections 10-30-2007, 06:07 AM Google Adsense will give you better business and return on investment.
Shaliza 10-31-2007, 04:23 AM Is there anyone who is with both Google Adsense & Yahoo! SM?
Reflections 11-02-2007, 07:36 AM These two are top search engines. Both will improve your business. Try both and see as an experiment, which one pay you more.
hekwu 11-02-2007, 08:59 AM These two are top search engines. Both will improve your business. Try both and see as an experiment, which one pay you more.
lol... you keep saying the same thing over and over, but in different ways.
But, yes, it all depends on the site and what you are trying to do... most will improve your business, if you are doing nothing. It is best to try them all... best to do six months so you have some real data.
But, yes, it all depends on the site and what you are trying to do...
Agree with you. f.e. What about targeted ads brokers? For example Medical adv broker for medical sites?
e-Healthcare, Adsense or other adv brokers (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=646341)
tnorris 11-04-2007, 08:25 AM I worked with YPN for a while -- they paid loads, but that was a couple years ago
I would say Google though, most reliable
Reflections 11-28-2007, 06:57 AM Yes, Google adsense is best.

We are also feeling the same for the past two months in our sites.
We mailed to their support but they are not replying about this issue but answering to some other issue than this.
The best is Google adsense than any one but not nowadays, you can try dgm-india.com if you are in India or adsbrite ( i heard that this is good one).

Agree 100%, last 2 months income from Adsense is descreases ~40-50% on my sites(traffic even increased).
I would have to say Adsense.... In regards to the decrease of on the value per click I have seen that happened on my site, the only thing that is giving a good return is the adsense videos...
Kind Regards
btw, how to become publisher in yahoo's network, i remember that few years ago i send request, and get answer, that system is beta, bla-bla ... we are sorry :-)
what is about now? are they accepting applications? or system is still beta/closed?

visit the site www.searchmarketing.yahoo.com and you can sign up as a publisher there.
Its only for US citizens as of now but Google adsense is world wide.
We never used Yahoo services in India for revenue generation so we are not aware of the things that may happen after sign up like payment delay, etc etc
amritrr 11-29-2007, 09:41 AM Google is no more economical. You may have to pay approx. $2 per click on most competitive key words. Be very careful that you do not loose out more money than you make.

it seems, that u give me wrong url, but Yes, i know it too, that it's only for US citizens. :-(
RackSolutions 11-30-2007, 06:58 PM I wouldn't use any of them. If your business is relying on the change that Search Engines pay for placing ads on your site then something is wrong with your business model. Get some real advertising.
<<< Signatures need to be set up in your profile. >>>
Get some real advertising.
and this real adv is provided by you ? :-)
impulseg 12-04-2007, 01:01 AM Try them both for a month? :p
stapel 12-04-2007, 11:42 AM It should probably be noted that Yahoo requires that you restrict access to your site to only American viewers. According to Yahoo's "Publisher Network Terms and Conditions (https://publisher.yahoo.com/legal/tnc.php)":
Section 9, part g: [Y]ou represent warrant and covenant that...you are a US-based business and you are operating Your Site and/or Your RSS Feed solely for viewing and use by users within the US....
Section 11, part l: You agree not to...display all or part of the Ad Unit to any user located outside the US....
Since I don't want to tell a quarter to a third of my visitors to take a flying leap, I cannot use Yahoo's "service".
In other words, if you have any non-US visitors and if you don't care to create a mirror site for them based on geography, or if you are -- heaven forfend! -- not an American, it would appear that you are not welcome at Yahoo.
Eliz.
achipmunk 12-05-2007, 03:18 PM Google Ads is better !
share4all 12-05-2007, 10:55 PM Try to use both, then make the decision
Reflections 12-12-2007, 08:44 AM Hi all.
Again google Adsense is the best.
holmesa 12-12-2007, 09:40 AM Google adsense is just more effective because more people use it. It does not matter if the click costs less.
Reflections 12-27-2007, 08:36 AM Yes, I am agree with you holmesa.
Google adsense is just more effective because more people use it. It does not matter if the click costs less.
BTW, in my adsense account few days CPM is very low $0.01-$1 (usually more than 5-8). What do u think is it related with Christmas ?
any1 check the same in his account?
Reflections 12-28-2007, 06:43 AM Yes, During Christmas people usually take vaccations. This may be a cause.
