View Full Version : Prices In Euro Or Dollars?
ZaxiHosting 05-26-2007, 06:14 PM Hello,
We have spend a lot of money to google & yahoo ads.
Customers have come, sign up all's good.
But,many customers didnt pay after order is complete(we use WHMCS and Paypal)
I think maybe because the prices are in euro and not in dollars,as the "whole internet" is.
What's your opinion?Do you have same experiences?
In the same time,I change all the prices to dollars,to see if this fixed.
King Regards
The Stealthy One 05-26-2007, 06:21 PM I definitely think that has an effect. Is it possible to offer both options to your users?
excelblue 05-26-2007, 06:21 PM I'd just put down the conversions.
It seems like most hosts go with USD, so I'd go with that too. After all, from my personal experience, people in the US (including me) tend to be ignorant about everything outside of the US, but the converse does not apply.
ZaxiHosting 05-26-2007, 06:25 PM In the main site,I had wrote the prices both. For example
Hosting 1 1€-2$/Month
But in the billing software(WHMCS) the invoices was in Euros.
Now I have change all.
Site and software are all in USD.
If this is the problem,I have lost many customers due to this.
Because the customers sign up,have their real info in register but didnt pay invoices.
Anyone with the same experience?
King Regards
martymart 05-26-2007, 08:20 PM I'm facing the same dilemma whether I should offer pricing in other currencies than US dollars i.e. Euro and Sterling. The tricky part is to decide on the single billing system - which I have no stand yet.

BrettB 05-26-2007, 08:46 PM I would suggest offering your hosting in the currency of your target market. For example, if you're aiming at the UK for your clients, you should have the prices listed as GBP. On the other hand, if your target clients are in the US, you should list the prices in USD.
From what location have you found that most of the customers who have gone through the signup process are from? It's also possible that the kind of people that are being sent to your site are not familiar with hosting and just "tried" out your checkout system -- you shouldn't expect everyone who goes through the signup form to pay and become a customer.
mrzippy 05-27-2007, 10:13 AM Why not contact them and ask if they need any help to complete their signup?
This way, you can determine why they did not complete the signup process. You have nothing to lose by contacting them...
ZaxiHosting 05-27-2007, 10:16 AM I have do it and they dont answer.
the post by adakist (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/member.php?u=125473) might solve the mystery.
But why the enter real info?
Anyway...
These days I have big problems with paypal..They Open me 2 issues about recent sales..
mrzippy 05-27-2007, 10:21 AM Perhaps the information they entered only "looks" real, but it is actually fake?
Do they use email addresses like, "asff33ffdsff@yahoo.com"? If so, then it's probably fraud.
If nobody is replying to your emails, then it's likely that it's just fraud attempts.
ZaxiHosting 05-27-2007, 10:23 AM They are real and their emails are real;I will recognize fake mails.

ameeriklane 05-28-2007, 03:58 AM You probably have the IP addresses of the people who did not complete the sign-up/payment process. Maybe you can see if those IPs are in the US and not Euro-based countries (for example)?
Bannaz 05-28-2007, 05:31 AM I would change your prices to dollars and give it a test run for a month or two.
Unfortunately, I do think this has an impact, especially if most of your customers are coming from the US.
Give it a go, and see if it makes a difference. :)

Let me speak from experience for you. I tried this before and it DOES make a difference. All of a sudden I had a large amount of signups coming from the USA
Try it and see ;) no harm in trying
ZaxiHosting 05-28-2007, 05:50 AM Yes I have also a difference.
I have every day campaings running in google(adwords) and many people signup but didnt pay.
Now they pay(but along with this,We have some fraud signups - I have told these to other thread)
Regards
The Stealthy One 05-28-2007, 11:00 AM I am glad to hear it is working.
Olate 05-28-2007, 03:39 PM We used to price our services in USD but almost a year ago decided to switch to GBP, primarily for ease of accounting but also because of the poor exchange rate being a UK based company. Since then we have seen no decrease in customer signups, indeed, we have had a significant increase. Of course, this cannot necessarily be put down to the currency change as there are several additional variables, but with 25% of our customers being from the US, it seems to have made no difference to conversions.
