Fellow WHTers,

I have been looking around for a new supplier, to supply us with White Boxes, anyone got any reccomendations?

Or, where do other DS providers buy your White Boxes from?

I dont want to have to buy parts from different suppliers and then build the machine, i'm looking for pre-built machines ready to be shipped out.

Cheers

Are you looking for rackmount servers, (1U/2U) or tower sized servers?

If your using towers, I'd recommend just buying the parts in bulk and building them yourself..... There really aren't heat issues you have to worry about with towers... But if you are wanting rack mounts then yeah, might be best to buy them....

I think "white boxed" servers refers to tower servers... that seems to be the general name for them now :).

Looking for normal tower servers.

I know I could get more than double servers in a rack if I use 1/2Us.

Life would be a lot easier if the servers were already built, and ready to ship :)

I, too, suggest building them yourself. Here's a site:

You can customize barebones and have them shipped out. Great deals and amazing products.

Thanks

good pricing, plus they offer RH pre-installed and dual boot OS'es... rarely someone offers this :)

i wouldn't really say that pricewatch is "the market". there is a large group of sellers on there that try and undercut as much as possible, then recoup with shipping (and the general lack of support/rma), just to get them to the top of the lowest price first page..

i'd prefer a mid-priced vendor that had a solid / stable (ie: trustworthy) RMA policy, experienced staff/support, and reasonable shipping over getting the lowest price (only to pay $20 - $30 more on shipping than i should).

I know they are in the UK but you might get a good deal here.

I definately know that pricewatch is NOT the market, what I meant was that the other posts with other companies, have given me a general idea of what to expect.

P.S. Thanks for getting me in touch with a supplier.

no problem at all, i hope it works out well, they're very excited about it and the owner himself will probably deliver by hand, should you want anything from them.

We get most of our servers from Spectrum Systems - www.online-spectrum.com. They seem to do mostly rackmount servers, but they do also offer regular systems on their web site. I'd suggest giving them a call and asking to speak with Edward. Please let him know that I sent you.
