Hi,

I'm in the midst of looking for a new webhost and i was wondering what are the essential questions i need to ask before deciding on one. Here are some topics which i've come out with:

-downtime
-notification of downtime
-back up service
-SSI
-multiple domain names
-proxity to major internet backbones

I'm not too sure how feasible these topics are and would appreciate it if you guys could give me your opinions.

Thanks

Time in operation and client references/testimonials would also be good to know.

Cheers

You can find tons of helpful info about hosting at hosthelp.com but here is the link directly to a pre sales letter

You should them ask if their profits are spent on drugs, alcohol, or gambling.

That depends on what type of site are you looking to host? Can you explain a little more about this?

I just starting out my ecommerce site so it will be shared hosting. I require unix, php/sql and SSI. Anything between 15-20 bucks for a plan would be good
