Hi

Im looking for a good host which provides:
100MB webspace
MySQL Database
CGI
ASP
Frontpage 2000 extensions
Unlimited Bandwidth (Not sure how much bandwidth I need. Does anyone have a hits to bandwidth guide. I know it depends on page size and all that. I think I'd probably be very lucky to get more than 100,000 hits a month (How much bandwidth would be needed for that?).)

For as cheap as possible.

I also want to be able to set up things like:
http://www.site.com - Home Page
http://support.site.com - Support Page (www.site.com/support)
Probably need up to about 20 of these.

Im new to this so any help/advice would be great. I live in the UK so would a UK host be better? I would think most my hits will be USA based, so perhaps a USA host better, or does it not make that much difference.

Thanks in advance
Chris

Welcome Chris! I'll let a member recommend their host pick but I'll take aim at these two...

You don't want an unlimited plan, as those plans are generally more limited than a plan that actually states how much transfer you'll be getting. It is nice to know what the amount is so you aren't suddenly kicked off for using too much 'unlimited bandwidth' if ya' know whudda mean.

There is no bandwidth to hits guide, and really even if you have 100 visitors, you'd be able to ballpark future usage better than guessing now. Like you said, it depends on page size and all that.

Cheers and welcome again!

I like the look of HostRocket. Would this be a wise choice? I am also looking at Tera-Byte, but as far as I can tell Tera-Byte doesnt do sub-domains.

Any comments?

Chris, unless your site is mostly pictures or binaries, you should be ok with 3-5GB -- more than you will use.

HostRocket and Tera-Byte are both good companies and come highly recommended. I use HostRocket and have for several months. I get a lot of features for a low price, they have a great control panel, and friendly, helpful, fast support.
