I am looking to start a network of sites, possibly directories to offer submission services to. So i obviously need around 100 domains.
If i want a .com, the cheapest i have seen one for is at netfirms.com for $4.95/year.
If i want a .info, i can get one from domainsite.com for $1.99.
Should i not bother with .infos?
Please tell me,
which is better, why, where i can get it cheapest, and where offers bulk discounts for 50+ orders.

There was a time when GoDady offered free .info. I have seen the prices fluctuate. So patience might be the answer to your question. :)

Yeah, I was going to mention that.
Is the renewal fee $0.99 as well?
All .info renewals are at the standard rate of $6.95.
Maybe

The problem is - with the cheapest of the cheap domain registrations you will find that their renewal costs are very high.
Same with special offers.

Make sure you check the renewal price. A lot of the registrars that charge 1.99 or less to register charge over 10.00 each to renew. For example right now godaddy charges 1.21 for a .info to register (.99 + .22 for ICANN fee) to transfer a .info it is 8.21 (7.99 + .22) to renew with out coupon it is 10.21 (9.99 + .22).
Make sure you check out the renewal fees as well. It may save you in the long run because if you spend 121.00 to register 100 names now just be prepared to pay over 1000.00 to renew in a year.
Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, it's silly if you ask me, It's a way for them to make back the money from the cheap registrations i think.

No. They got this pricing scheme directly from the Registry and cannot charge the same for renewals as for the registrations.
What I mean is that it is Registry's policy to charge ways less for the first year and then the normal price for the renewals.
