View Full Version : Site Builders...
MrStealth 05-19-2007, 01:26 AM I'm starting my own hosting company, and I've been doing heavy HEAVY research over the past several weeks into the various technicalities. However, I cannot find what I'm looking for in a site builder. I am looking for a site builder that will:
1. Allow me to upload and integrate my own, custom-designed web templates and completely do away with the default templates. Many of the templates out there in these software packages are pretty crappy and embarrassing design-wise, and I'd like to include my own designs for a higher quality solution for my clientelle.
2. At the same time, allow clients to update and manage their own content with a fully integrated CMS without screwing up the new templates that have been added.
I've narrowed down my choices to RV Site Builder and SW Soft site builder, as they seem to be the most widely supported ones out there. I don't see anything in the RV Site builder (or swsoft) feature list that describes the above, however. I would love to hear from those who have experience with these site builders if the above requirements are possible.
mrzippy 05-19-2007, 10:02 AM rvsitebuilder now allows you to upload your own template files. So does sitezen.
I think sitezen would be a better choice for you, if your users are a bit more advanced. It's a very powerful system.
dotcomUNDERGROUND 05-19-2007, 12:42 PM which is the most easy-to-use to end users?
MrStealth 05-20-2007, 12:26 AM Thanks mrzippy! That's EXACTLY what I need- now my final choices are narrowed down to RV Site builder and Site Zen. :)
dot- From what I've seen, RV Site Builder seems to be fairly easy for end users with a step-by-step process for clients to build their site with existing templates.
Brown 05-21-2007, 11:17 AM RVSiteBuilder also allows you to download their templates, and edit on your computer, after which you can upload it again. Basically, you can upload anything like your logos to customize your templates.
sonixi 05-21-2007, 04:13 PM SW Soft Site Builder, as I remember, has something close to 300 add on templates. They used to be free to download from the swsoft site. Some of the templates are lame, but many of them were of good quality.
DSD-Dan 05-22-2007, 06:25 AM What about Click Be! From netenberg? (same people who do Fantastico)
We personally use RV Sitebuilder Pro, and love it.
dotcomUNDERGROUND 05-22-2007, 11:14 AM SohoLaunch?
linux-tech 05-24-2007, 03:36 PM What sitebuilder you run is highly tied to what control panel you're going to run, at least for the two you mentioned.
For CPanel, you want to go with rvsitebuilder. They're great at what they do and supporting individuals
For Plesk, you want to go with SWsoft's sitebuilder, even though it relies on incredibly vulnerable versions of php.
dotcomUNDERGROUND 06-01-2007, 04:37 AM I think i shall be going with RVSiteBuilder aswell
intrepid_wolf 06-07-2007, 11:07 PM Just my 2c is it easy to move from one host to another if you have a heap of RV Site Builder sites already deployed?
I do not think its as easy as copying the cpanel account and moving it.
Hope it helps
Joe

I talked with RV support regarding it.
They explained the process and its pretty simple. I would take it just as 2 times of simple cpanel transfer (you make cpanel transter and then make a rvsitebuilder transfer).

Best Regards,
The last exploit (0 Day / Public) was back in October of 2006... and it was a simple remote file inclusion vulnerbility.
... have there been new holes found?
fatetrip 06-11-2007, 11:25 AM RVSiteBuilder is the best by far I think. It loads fast, easy to use, and the prices are reasonable for it. I used to have it (before i moved servers) And im getting it again sometime in the next month.

I've been considering RVSiteBuilder for it's ease of use... but the templates leave a little to be desired? :(
fatetrip 06-11-2007, 11:48 AM It does have some really plain templates and a few do seem to be messey but its a really good peice of software.
dotcomUNDERGROUND 06-11-2007, 12:14 PM RVSiteBuilder releases new templates every month.
May be they would be making the new templates better if all users (hosts) are asking them.
sohoben 06-18-2007, 11:32 AM Soholaunch has changed considerably over the last year or so.
I use it for all of my custom design accounts.
The methodology for creating custom templates could not be any easier... You probably would be surprised how many sites don't "look" like Soholaunch sites, but are. It's very easy to get out of the cookie-cutter effect.
