Anyone have experience with moniker.com?

I'd like to what's the reputation of the company, what you think, etc.

A business partner of mine moved his domains from GoDaddy, to this particular registrar...I was curious.

I'm going to write another review about them soon. But in a nutshell personally, they're enough for me.

Their long-standing reputation among domainers is their security. I've "tested" their security measures and I can see why.

Transferring out is likely a hassle for some, especially since they do phone verification. OTOH, I and a couple of people who value security highly want that.

IMHO their prices are reasonable, even if I still think they shouldn't have lowered them. However, contact one of their people here (MonikerMaurie, I think) and you can get special forum pricing.

Control panel isn't exactly intuitive. But it does let you practically do any and all kind of changes, especially bulk ones, at no extra cost.

Support response is lately delayed, although I've read somewhere their beefing it up and introducing a ticket system soon.

That's about it at the top of my head.

I think Dave summed it up pretty nicely, I keep most of my domains there :)

To add my modest share to Dave's brilliant comment on Moniker :)

They are secure, affordable, the control panel (at least in my own view and experience) is not very intuitive but working just fine. Hope I am helpful.

I'm in the process of moving from eNom to Moniker--I like it so far.

The control panel isn't as pretty as eNom, but it support Opera fully (I have a pet peeve against companies that don't support my primary browser) and bulk changes are extremely easy to do.

I'm thinking of using them. Do they accept Paypal? I didn't see it anywhere.

They do accept PayPal--you can prefund your account with it, and IIRC you can also pay at checkout with it.

You mean they do PHONE verification for EVERY transfer away??

Heh, I never said they do phone verification every time, although I'd imagine they can for the most part. That's something you'll have to ask them. ;)

Thanks for the clarification, guys. I would need to start transferring out my few domains there (bought from the aftermarket) if they really have transfer-UNfriendly measures like this. Perhaps I should test it out a bit myself.

I've never had a problem getting domains transferred away from Moniker. You tell them you're transferring out, they unlock the domain and send you the Auth Code. You apply to transfer at your new registrar, and approve the transfer authorisation email. And then just wait for the transfer to happen.

A problem might arise if the transfer takes too long because they re-lock the domain after 10 days. But I've never had that problem.

That sounds simple and the way many Registrars operate ;)

What do you know about Network Solutions and transfers away from them? Reason, I'm waiting on my first transfer away to process, only been 3 days so far. :)

Just read their Transfer-Out Policy. NOT impressed. Will transfer out at least one just to test how unfriendly it is.

Boy, it's such a long time since I transferred out of NetSol, I've forgotten. From my fading memory, all I recall was it took all of 10+ days to transfer.

I don't find it particularly unfriendly at all.

I personally found it easy to transfer away from them, although one thing they won't tell you (unless you ask or one of them mentions it anyway) is the domain name will relock itself if not transferred out within roughly 2 weeks.

Hopefully it's a happy transfer out, nameslave. :D

Do transfering out your domain cost money? Especially a bulk transfer?

I'm considering transfering out my domains from NameCheap, to Moniker?

Wise decision?

You at least pay the gaining registrar transferring to them. The losing registrar can charge for transferring out, although neither Moniker nor Namecheap thankfully don't so far unless there are any "unpaid" bills.

Good New :)

Transfer out of NetSol started on May 17th and completed on May 21st.

Transfer from NetSol to StarGate..All smooth :agree:

Another thumbs up for Moniker.

I have about 40-50 domains with them (transfered about 20 in) - No problems registering ever 'cept one time when they stopped accepting my card due to the quantity of domain registrations I was making in a set period (apparently) - this was cleared up in a few minutes on the phone though (not a complaint either way, was protecting my account).

Security wise you will not find better than Moniker. They have several security polices/procedures in place that make you feel abit better about the safety of your domains.

I use them for all registrations now, except .co.uk.

Aorozco
06-06-2007, 12:48 AM
Well, you can transfer one domain, and if u dont want, go out. I prefer logicboxes than them, per accident i change my nameservers in one domain without Notice. Domain Therapy report to me, but in other case, i take many days to catch it.

Good prices, and goos registrar.

I registered seven domains and it looks as if they have frozen my account. They are not responding to mail and rather than getting that warm fuzzy feeling I would like to kick arse.

Not sure what's going on with your account, but I can get you straightened out, if you give me your account number. You can also email me at albert@moniker.com.

The control panel is klunky at best, and there's been quite a few complaints about service recently. These are probably just growing pains, but I too have had unanswered, and/or several days delay before getting support replies.

Dan L

The control panel *looks* clunky, but I've found it much easier to work with, especially when doing bulk changes (compared to enom). If they have a templating system, a little bit of work could easily make it nicer to look at, IMHO.

I can attest to the support delays.. I've emailed Albert twice with no response yet. Hopefully it isn't the spam filter grabbing my email.

Yep. It would be better if they had a ticketing system than just email support. You can never be sure if the email gets thru or not.

They are growing pains. We just brought two new customer service people on and they are getting up to speed.

I can also show you around the control panel. Once you get used to where things are, it's not klunky. AND, we are consistently listening to client's specific requests and implementing where possible.

Any problems getting replies please speak with me - 954-861-3534...
