I've struggled with this issue for some time now. So I figure it's time to put it to the good people at WHT.
Typically, "template" sites will display templates for sale that they sell over and over again. So several site owners will have similar designs.
After selling a hosting template here at WHT, should that design simply be archived, never to be sold again, or do you think that it is proper/ethical/justifiable to resell the template to other customers?
My thinking on this is that if a customer wants a custom site design that is unique, they would be paying custom design rates. But since templates sell for considerably less, should the designer not be able to sell a template to more than 1 customer? After all, there is still a considerable amount of time that is invested in designing/creating the template design.
I'm not refering to templates that have a rectangle on top that is loosely defined as a header, and a generic left hand nav bar. I'm talking about a template that has more depth, many unique design elements and much more detail.
What do you think?
