Ive been looking around for a few days with no luck.

What im trying to do is connect a ip serial device to a linux box.

right now im using a device called a xport which is serial to ip(just out of the box). It allows you to connect to the serial on port 10001 but im looking for a way to make my box think this is a local serial port.
im sure it can be done or im just looking over something. is there anyone out there who can share some wisdom.

There are utilities that can create a virtual COM port and redirect them to a TCP port. This is the only way that you could do what you want unless your software can read from more than a COM port.

I used to use one called GPSGate, but you could probably find a free one on google.
