I hope this won't be taken as the next "wich is better" thread, but lets face it, this is what this forum is about mainly.

I want to start selling resellers packages, and looked at different CP's for it.
So far i like Ensim and Plesk best (sorry didnt like Cpanel at all).
These are both professional packages wich made a solid impression to me.

What i would like to know is: how fast are both of them with updates for security issues?
And are these updates considered safe or do i have to wait before installing them like the Cobalt patches.

And additionally (could not find a explicit answer on the websites) do they run with RedHat 7.3 that came with my brand new server :)

Can't comment on Ensim as I don't use the software. But Plesk are quite quick at updating the Standard version. If your using the RPM version then it's up to you to update the software you use, such as apache etc. So as soon as the update to the security flaw is released you can install it immediately.

I was originally a Standard version client as that is what my dedicated server provider installed by default. At the last major Plesk upgrade I switched to the RPM version using their excellent backup/restore utilities.

Sphera is pretty good for Resellers. They let us manage a lot of functionality.

But I heard that there next version due out in a couple of months will let resellers create service packages, and in more.

Ensim is great.
Fully customisable, skinable, patches released for security issues and more. They are great.

Ensim doesnt allow you to create subdomains (users from their CP) is this option available in PLESK?

Sub-domains are setup in Plesk the same way normal domains are. Meaning if you only have a 200 domain licence... sub-domains count in this limit.

If you create resellers yes or you can do what i did. I reconfigured a new setup domain script which also sets users data to a mysql db, then add a link for site admins to create there own subs, which will remove specs from mysql and will also call EditVirtDomain to modify it. Works great.

Plesk is good for ease of management I find, and once you understand that each service (mail, ftp, control panel) are seperate, and have to be set-up individually, it is great. I honestly have not had one trouble that I could not figure out on my own or through the plesk forums.

Subdomains can be setup as domains, but in the forums, there are instructions on how to get around this. It's extremely easy, and you can even get someone to set it up for you www.nc99.com

They do updates fairly quickly once a problem is identified, and it's fast. I prefer Plesk over cpanel.

However -- it's not what I like that matters, it's what users like that matters, and in my experience, a lot of clients have difficulty with Plesk because it is not as "nice" as cpanel with the cartoony icons and appears to have less features. In reality, it's all good --but customers and resellers seem to be less enthusiastic about PSA.
