Ok, here's my quick review on Site5.

1). Company Background - These guys know what they are doing, the people are technically inclined, management with good vision, and they also have programmed a "backstage" customer login for customer to manage their account. I like to deal with company with strong background, at least you know they won't close shop within a year or so.

2). Speed Test - http://brizo.site5.com/42-mb-test-file.bin
From my location, I running on cable broadband, i downloading at averaging 12kb/sec, which is considered very slow. The speed could be fast for someone in US. I checked Hostgator test download file http://www.hostgator.com/testfile.zip , surprising, its very fast from my location (180++KB/sec). Now, this is puzzling me, cos both providers servers are located in The Planet, server specs around the same, and I don't think the load for both is heavy. But sad to say Hostgator don't offer overselling..
Resellerzoom download speed is 100KB/sec from my location. http://www.resellerzoom.com/company.shtml

3). Server load - Running several accounts with basic HTML files are fine. The headache comes when you are running a database driven website. For example, a catalog site with 100++ products load very slow. There are several occassions when the load is very heavy, but the situation has since improved.

4). Support Response - Their support is so far good for me. Good technical knowledge, with excellent response time.

5). Bandwidth - 2TB vs 200GB? 2TB looks a winner.

HELP: Guys, as some of you are based in US, you might be more familiar than me. Can you help and advise me on the following:

A). Just how reputable is Resellerzoom? I've seen quite a no. of positive threads on them over here. How big is the company? Around 10 - 20 people? Or 5 man team with outsourced support services?

B). I'm really puzzled as to why the simple speed test from Hostgator and Site5 could produce such contrasting results when they are both hosted in The Planet, server same specs. How is the download speed over in US for the above 2 download links?

C). Anyone with resellerzoom facing server overload issues? I know sometimes this can't be avoided as service providers providing overselling, but I not asking for too much. But certainly, not crazy overloads.

CHEERS!!

More is not always the better option, it's what you actually use that you should be looking for.

What is your actual bandwidth usage?

I am getting pretty decent speed from Site5, 700+ KB/sec. Unable to determine the speed of hostgator file since it appears to be extremely small and is downloaded instantly.

2 terabytes? I would dare one to even consider using all of that bandwidth, do you honestly think if everyone on the box used 2 terabytes what site5s bandwidth bill would come to per month? any ideas?

You may want to use the search function, there are a lot of reviews of all them, specially about overload issues on this providers.

Hey Guys,

Many thanks for your tests and advices.

I did a searh on the old posts. In fact both companies and other companies have their fair share of overloading issues. Perhaps its also a positive news to the company from another angle, meaning that business is good for them.

I personally feel that offering overselling as part of the reseller package will not cause overloading issues. But when hosting providers themselves oversells beyond the limits without monitoring, thats where all the overloading issues start..... My 2 cents.

Lastly, can someone advise me on Resellerzoom company background? I couldnt find. How big are they? Do they outsourced support?

CHeers people.

I have been using resellerzoom for about 1.5 years on shared servers. I have a basic reseller account with access only to email support. I don't know the actual size of Zoom but I believe their support is outsourced. Most of the support people have Indian sounding names and their English is sometimes a bit broken up but they are always willing and very polite. I have always been able to resolve problems and get questions answered within 12 hours, usually within 1-2 hours. They will stick with you til your issue is resolved. I have not had overload problems but my accounts are relatively low usage -- small online stores and info websites. If you anticipate heavy bandwidth you will want a dedicated server. Best to call their sales department in Houston if possible to get a first hand impression.

Good luck.

I have been reselling with Site5 for over a year and they're great. Haven't had a single problem.
