Kinda scary how in this article it lists a valid point that Direct X is utilized by game developers making it more harder to port the games to non-MS platforms. For me this is just another reason to hate MS I suppose.
Can't they let the computer industry, hardware and software industry progress without leaving a stain on it?!!!

michaeln 07-13-2002, 01:24 PM ROFL,

mwatkins 07-14-2002, 12:11 AM Ah, who needs graphics anyway. The world would be a better place if command lines were the norm.

mwatkins 07-14-2002, 12:18 AM NEWSFLASH:
ZDNET news has just learned that Micro$oft has filed a patent claim stating that they developed proprietory "command line" technology in the 1980's. Unix and Unix compatible world trembles.
Said Microsoft spokeswoman Elvira U. Willbescrewed: "yes, in 1980 we had a team of engineers and usability scientists perform extensive testing to determine what the optimal "command line" environment should look like.
We took the best of the bunch and incorported that as proprietory intellectual property in MS DOS 1.0 [ the famous '>' prompt ].
But what is not known is that through the course of usability testing, we ran through the entire character set [1234567890-=1!!@#%^&(*&%)(*_ASDLKHLKJVLANCLS:K C:JASC etc], including the '%' symbol.
Therefore Microsofts "prior art" argument is bullet proof. Microsoft will be seeking a non-discriminatory license and redress from all companies, organizations and users that use any character, from any language, as a "command prompt".
Angel78 07-14-2002, 04:44 AM i told you :homer: mmmmm big MSmac with coke :)
