Which hosting servers allows you to pay yearly by check?
I live in Sweden and I don't have a creditcard. I want to pay by check, but I don't want to get ripped off. *duh*

I've thought about going with CyberPixels.com for quite some time. But since they didn't reply to some of my questions I have to find some other host.

I think E-starr.net seem to be really good, and relatively cheap. :) I also got fast answers when emailing her questions. Which I think is a good sign. :D

Anyone know of any other GOOD and relatively cheap host? I'm only 17 and don't have too much money, yet I'm looking for at least 300 mb space/10 gb transfer/mySQL/cgi/php.

www.aresnetwork.com

they're decent, never had a problem with them, and they're pretty flexible with billing. i payed by check myself.

just looked, they're prices are high for 300mb space and they don't have 10 gigs transfer, only 7 gigs. theres probably a better option somewhere else.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to check them out. But I think 7 gb transfer is too little... :/ Because I'm thinking about hosting my fianceé's linux site as a subdomain and that site will take a lot of bandwith.

Lots of hosts take checks. Just find one you want, and ask them. This will also test how helpful (or fast) their customer responses are.
If writing a check, you should probably pay for two months at a time because of how long they take to clear the bank.

Why not a postal money order instead? You don't have to wait for it to clear. Less costly than trying to validate & cash a foreign check.

At a yearly rate, most hosts will probably entertain the idea of check payment. The issue for most of us is chasing up check paying accounts. It's amazing how often people 'forget', even after numerous reminders.

In most cases it's a service we all provide, but with a few hesitations. :)

Thank you all who replied. :)

Though, one girl told me that foreign checks wont work in the US?! I've never heard that before, but that got me a little worried.

And about Money Order. I really don't know what that is? I've never heard of it. I think that is a very rare way to pay here in Sweden.

Foreign checks work fine in US banks. You need to be careful of the exchange rates - and some banks won't let you write a check "in US finds" though some certainly will.

An alternative to a personal check or a money order is a bank check. Go down to your bank and talk with them about both options. Your bank guarantees the funds so they don't have to "clear the bank" before your account can be activated.

Hi,

You might want to look into PayPal. Most hosts accept this payment type. I have a customer who lives in Sweden and he payes via PayPal. Just another option...

Hi,

Yes I agree with rsaylor. PayPal by far is your BEST bet and is a lot faster then waiting for mail ffrom Sweden. It took me a month to receive a check from Sweden.

I believe dot5hosting.com will accept a check for hosting and they have quick response time and reasonable prices........I don't use paypal because they charge extra for every transaction that is international............They have been very good to me........and their service has been stellar.....

What the heck is up with digging up this old post, surely andiegirl has found a host that accepts checks by now.
She might even be in an old age home, or deceased, since she posted her request over a month ago.
