Hi All,

I currently host most of my domains with HostMatters. I have received good quality service from them and am not moving anytime soon. I have been with them right around a year now.

However I do want to have a "backup" plan and that has lead me to search for another host to use to ensure I always have a "Plan B".

So far I have narrowed it down to to pair.com or HostWay. Is anyone here currently hosting with either of these companies? If so, please comment on your experiences with the host. Thanks.

I have had one $28 account with Hostway for about 17 months. Zero issues, fast and reliable.

Yeah, you got two hosts confused...

I know Pair doesn't have CPanel like Host Matters. Don't know about Hostway. You may want to find another backup plan that has the same control panel, though.

Hostway's control panel is simplistic yet oddly confusing. I recently moved a customer from Hostway to us and had to log into their panel... Couldn't find much information - it didn't have many options, and navigation wasn't very intuitive.

E-mailing them about something was pleasant though. Pretty quite replies that didn't look like a canned response.

However, as we get a few signups moving away from Hostway you have to wonder why. (maybe it's the Interland buyout?)

I have a few clients with Hostway and haven't heard any complaints.

Pair.com is excellent, but probably not as a backup if you are a reseller elsewhere. Pair has no real equivalent to the typical reseller plan you see promoted at other hosting providers. Pair's plan is more or less simply billing aggregation. The client knows at all times that they are dealing with Pair.
