So in that case you just get some outside help from others. Its very common. JayC 07-12-2002, 11:46 AM Originally posted by cedwards So in that case you just get some outside help from others. Its very common. Sure, subcontracting with someone else to do a site for you is common. But the original comment is about designers having someone else design their own site. I guess if I were shopping for a designer it would tell me to do just what they did: go to the "someone else." iceishot.com 07-12-2002, 11:51 AM That is hillarious. I would really want to use a company that had someone else design their site. They must do great work LOL. Brian myros 07-12-2002, 04:20 PM Ive done a couple of sites for 'design' firms, I found it pretty funny at first but after talking with them it was just that they were actualy developers more than designers. They were heavy into coding applications and database structures etc so the graphics parts were just farmed out to freelancers like myself. Saved them the cost of having a full time staff for doing it to keep their overheads down. Makes sense to me. Myros edude 07-12-2002, 07:03 PM Yes its quite funny, and i've seen many webdesign companies that do this.. Even pixelbrick J/K = Just joking :D vito 07-12-2002, 07:15 PM Originally posted by myros ... after talking with them it was just that they were actualy developers more than designers... I guess, though, the point of the original post was that design sites are outsourcing the design of their own sites. In my mind, a designer's site should be considered his portfolio, his flagship site. After all, that's what he does. Design web sites. What better way to show your talents than to display it in your own site??? It is funny when you think about it. :D Vito CritticAge 07-12-2002, 09:25 PM People agree! I am not so wierd afterall! :D :D :D vito 07-12-2002, 09:32 PM Originally posted by CritticAge I am not so wierd afterall! Well, now you're just reading into our comments... :D Vito Neo3Net 07-12-2002, 10:16 PM True. Some companies are into web developing and not designing however they go hand in hand. Then again some people are just not creative. iamdave 07-12-2002, 11:57 PM Originally posted by CritticAge People agree! I am not so wierd afterall! :D :D :D Yes you are. Getting someone else to do it for you is a bit odd though - some might even say it misrepresents your business. However I do know that some design firms are actually better described as brokers, who get clients and match them to designers who work under their name as freelancers. In this case, using one of your own freelancers to design the site wouldn't be misleading as the services used to build that site are still available to potential customers. Hmm, what a stream of thought... I personally work with a few other hosts and design firms as a freelancer at times, and it's a good working relationship on both sides. Working with a 'known' person helps reduce the worry over being ripped off as far as the end fee goes too :) Greg Moore iamdave 07-13-2002, 12:39 AM Originally posted by CritticAge :bawling::blush:   :o ;) :D Maybe I am :stickout Not maybe, you are. |
