Does anybody know of a blacklist or similar for dodgy credit card orders?It would save a lot of time and international phonecalls :-)

well, hosting folks usually ban IP address blocks in their order scripts. You should check this board, here are a few posts with the blacklisted IPs...

Using IPs isn't a particularly useful method for the reasons mentioned.

The problem with the concept of a blacklist for dodgy credit card orders is that you could be listing a real credit card number and/or a real persons contact details who knows nothing about the fraud being committed. Since only the credit card companies can sort the real cards from the generated ones, I don't think such a concept could really exist (I stand to be corrected, of course).

Sadly, since the credit card companies couldn't care less about fraudulent credit card use on the internet (they make a nice bit of money from the chargebacks, thank you) then it's up to your own vigilance, research and use of features such as CVVS2/AVS where possible. If you're uncomfortable with an order *don't* process it, or refund it if you already have processed it and request further identification.

Our products sell at an individual high price, so we are particularly careful when checking customer details. If we're unsure we keep asking questions until we're satisfied, to the extent we may ask for faxed copies of some kind of ID or the back of the credit card.

We still get fraudulent orders every now and again, but it pays in the end to do as much as possible to positively identify someone to keep this sort of thing under control.
