Was wondeirng if there might be demand for "nearly ready" servers, complete with Unlimited Plesk 2.5.3?

I was thinking:

P4 1.6
1 gig DDR 333
2x60 gig harddrives, software RAID mirrored
56X CDrom
MSI 6533 GL motherboard
1U case, 300W power supply
RH 7.2 + Plesk 2.5.3 installed, unlimited license.

$2400 + shipping
$1600 + shipping without Plesk and plain jane RH7.2 or no OS at all.

1 year replacement guarantee on the hardware.

Reckon anyone'd be interested in such a thing?

Absolutely - I would put 7.3 on it tho if it HAD to be redshat, otherwise I would put FreeBSD

I think its a good idea tho

Why should you put all of that in a 1 u case? This way it can get quite hot in there..........

Especially with a pentium 4 in it and 2 harddisks (5400 rpm / 7200 rpm ??). And I would also go with FreeBSD instead of RH if possible. And have you thought of a hardware raid controller instead of software raid??

Further more I also would prefer a pentium 3 :-)

Assuming it is not cooled sufficiently

I said RH mainly because that's what I'm familiar with and use myself.

These 1U cases cool real good, got several in service for the last 3 months with no cooling problems, I have to special order the CPU fans but it works great.

P3's are easier to get fans for that's for sure!
