Hello
can anyone recommend a domain registrar (.com,.net) that doesn't keep credit card details in their db, or is that standard practice?
You should be able to remove the CC details after using them? What about using Paypal + a registrar (i.e. namecheap?)

Anyone who takes credit cards keeps a record of card numbers and transactions for tax & accounting purposes and to investigate fraud. They may or may not keep this data in an online database. I'd take a2b2's advice & use PayPal.

Hello,
If paypal isn't available then you can use your credit card to buy domains without being tensed. As credit card numbers are stored in the online database and in offline database for the records but the "CardIdentificationNumber" is not possible to sotre anywhere whether it is offline or online. and without this "CardIdentitificationNumber" no one can charge you.
For Visa:
Do not store CVV2 data.
- For information security purposes, Visa U.S.A. Inc. Operating
Regulations prohibit e-commerce merchants from storing CVV2 data.
For MasterCard:
2.8.2.1 Disclosure Restrictions for CVC 2 Data
Acquirers, merchants, and merchant service providers may not store CVC 2
data in any manner or for any purpose.
Assessments for failure to adhere to these CVC 2 data use and safeguarding rules will apply. MasterCard may impose a noncompliance assessment of up to USD $100,000 for each violation if the acquirer, or any of its merchants or Member Service Providers (MSPs), fails to comply with these requirements within 30 days of discovery or notice of noncompliance.
According to above rules your CVV number can be stored only for a while (temporary case) when charging you instantly then usaully it is removed.
You can still buy domains from many place with other options of payment gateways.
Hope with the best!
