Hi,

I run a smal web design business, but haven't been doing much work recently due to major ilness. Consequently, I didn'y realise one of my customers domains expired until she told me the site wasn't available!!

When I tried to renew it through the people I had originally registered the name through (prowebspace) it came up as 'forbidden' for some reason. an email to their support people was unanswered. I tried to re-register through someone else but it showed up as still registered to me...

And now it points to one of those generic search websites, and I don't know if I can get it back.

The domain in question is breathtakingturkey.com (sorry can't link - I'm too new hereand it won't let me!!) A whois lists the registrar as EXTRA THREADS CORPORATION, all the nameservers are at NAME-SERVICES.COM and the 'status' (whatever that means) is 'clientTransferProhibited'

any ideas?

The site expired on April 23rd so you are still in the 30 day window to renew at regular price. ExtraThreads appears to be an Enom reseller. Perhaps your previous provider (prowebspace) was also an Enom reseller & sold the business. Contact http://www.enom.com/ to renew your domain before 30 days is up. You may be able to login thru the Enom site.

This domain has probably been picked up by a domain taster associated with eNom in some way. If you login to prowebspace, what do you see against this domain? Techno's advice is good. You need to resolve this with eNom within 30 days. Normally you can renew within 30 days at eNom. Of course they reserve the right to give you didley-squat.

techno, that is incorrect. The domain was registered on the 27th. The domain is currently being tasted, I would expect it to expire within the next couple days (and perhaps be picked up again). Check it's availability constantly, there is a good chance you can register it again unless it's making some good money, then they will hold onto it.

You can also try and contact eNom directly and ask them if they can "push" the domain name into someone elses reseller account so that you can renew it. (Only if it's still in the "renewal grace period".)

Not feasible in this case:

(not including the domain name)
Registrar: EXTRA THREADS CORPORATION
Whois Server: whois.extrathreads.com
Referral URL: http://www.extrathreads.com
Name Server: DNS1.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS2.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS3.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS4.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS5.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Status: clientTransferProhibited
Updated Date: 25-apr-2007
Creation Date: 23-apr-2007
Expiration Date: 23-apr-2008

It's a new registration. Someone will have to buy the name or seek legal advice.
