I'm not no computer geek (so don't make fun of me if I misword soemthing here), and I pretty much need a new video card for the best game that just came out which I just bought, Warcraft 3. The mouse lags so much it's not even funny, and the game goes sort of slow..

I'm looking for a 3dfx PCI voodoo 3, 4 or 5 with at least 32MB.

Anyone can suggest a cheap computer site where I can order one of these fairly cheap? Or anyone sellign any? :D

Hey Dan, how is it going? :D

PCI card for gamers = Illogical, Captain.

Also, the 3dfx cards you mentioned above are all 16Mb - Ok, maybe there was a Voodoo 5 flavor in 32 Mb, not sure.

Get a new motherboard - Shuttle AK35GT2/R greatly recommended - that has an AGP video slot. Then you can pretty much have all the variety of the market at your disposal.

Nvidia-based cards, such as GeForce 3 & 4 are powerful in every resolution and for every game. If you want sharp and fast desktop acceleration as well, I would recommend the Radeon 8500.

A) you wont find a 3dfx at any Major supplier.. It's just too old.
B) If you have to have "3dfx" go thru ebay or something
However my best advice is go w newer Nvidia (which purchased 3dfx)
a very decent (not brand new top end) so it wont kill ur pocket:
Nvidia g3 ti500 .. You'll be able to run ANY game very nicely w it and it will run you at $100 or less.
Of course this is provided your system specs can handle the card...
If your PC motherboard cant handle AGP 4x (if your mhz speed is 600 or below u likely don't have 4x, but rather 2x (which will run card fine but you wont get max performance)
If its older than that... you may really look into upgrading PC to play newer games.

check pricewatch.com for a good dir of cheap resellers!

If you were looking for AGP I have a Voodoo3 3000 (16MB RAM) that I could sell you for cheap :( I have nothing to do with it, heh.

Cool

My last 3dfx Voodoo was a 3000 AGP. Great card for Socket/Super 7 systems.

The entire Vodoo and 3dFx series of cards are getting pretty dated...

I wouldn't expect many games to be producing under those codesets for very much longer. The simply don't have enough processing power, 3d library functions, or quick cache to really support some of the high end graphics that are being produced now or in the future. Almost all games of really high caliber graphics are switching over to the nVidia codesets...

For a really serious gaming set up I'd seriously look at upgrading your board for an AGP slot and looking for one of the GForce 3/4/5 series of cards...

Also remember that processing power is also a big factor for some of the games that are now coming out especially ones that have a great deal of AI in them (such as Warcraft and some of the more advanced FPS's (RTCW, AA, CS, etc). The new Unreal engine that was just used in a game called America's Army (http://www.americasarmy.com the game is free as well) will need a minimum of 800Mhz+ 256MG ram+ and a nVidia codeset card)... Now these games are extremly complex in graphics output and AI; it truely does show in the game as well...

Building a good gaming rig is not always an easy or cheap thing to do.

I just bought this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?sku=E145-1032

"EVGA nVidia TnT2 M64 32MB PCI Video Card"

I don't require anythign blazing perfect, just want to play teh game normally, heh.. I think I'm ok in the rest of my computer, p3 1.1 ghz, 384mb ram. Thanks for the suggestiosn everyone. :) Damn gateway had to make the video card "built in", oh well.

I forgot to say in the beginning I have some cheap ass video card now, something like 4MB (WC3 requires 8MB 3D, recommends 32MB), and it doesn't even say anythign about 3D. So this should probably bring the game play up a bit, heh.
