I logged in to my Go Daddy account today to find a notice saying that an "in store credit" has been issued, because ICANN "agreed" to lower the Registrar Transaction Fee to 22 cents retroactive to 8/1/06. It's a decrease of 3 cents.
Because of that, I have a whopping 15 cents in my account, which will offset any future renewals or registrations.
Is this something that all registrars will do, or is Go Daddy the only one who's being honest about it? Thus far, there are no such messages in any of my other registrar accounts.
I'm looking at you Namecheap and Dynadot.

It sounds more like a good PR move on Godaddy's part. ;)

Yeah, I can't find any mention of it anywhere. Well, go Go Daddy!
EDIT: Apparently, Go Daddy is the only one I see doing it, because they are the only registrar I know of who charges separate for the RTF. Well, they still did the right thing before it was even announced by ICANN.

Tucows has posted a notice stating that they intend to refund the .03 per DNY. I haven't seen it yet, but supposedly it's coming.

Don't worry verisign and other registries are increasing their prices so don't rejoice too long.

No, need to rejoice, but it is a nice offset of the impending rate increase.

ICANN needs to revoke their fee back to a penny per domain at a minimum after that BS move of allowing verisign to continue their monopoly with approved 7% price increases and no justification.

They need reduce their own fee and not allow rate increases is what really needs to happen. There wasn't competitive bidding for the contracts and they are allowing them to raise prices? It's BS.
