Can someone please enlighten me to the purpose of .eu domains going into quarantine period (40-days AFAIK).

I know the reason why they do but, what's the purpose behind it as domains in this status are unusable for the period.

Tia :)

It is perfect against late payments of customers for domain registration. Many people forget to pay on time.

Thanks PlanPro for the reply - appreciated :agree:

... but, even if you renew within the quarantine period the domain still stays in quarantine until the end of the quarantine period

You domain registration party can Reactive the domain name (cost: 20 euro for your domain registration party). Then the domain will be immideate available.

Thanks for the clarification :)

I knew you could/would be charged a fee if renewed after the expiration date but, didn't know the domain(s) status could be changed to registered from quarantined within the quarantined period.
