I just came across this "Top 10 Dedicated" listing at iHostCafe.com
http://www.ihostcafe.com/top10/top10.php3

I noticed "RackShack.Net (nbci)" is number 7, with the quote "This company has been in the internet access game for quite some time. They are backed by NBCi.com."

Is this information true?

The same NBCi that lost $662 million (http://www.forbes.com/2001/04/10/0410nbci.html)(!) in 2000? It's been ages since I have heard that name. I know RackShack is backed by EV1, their parent company, but this is the first I have heard of a NBCi connection.

Anyone know the last time that list at iHostCafe was updated?

NBCi might have funded them

Yeah, I'm not saying they didn't. I'm just as confused as you are.

Btw, I noticed that site is covered with RackShack ads (just an observation).

At one time NBCI paid us a substantial sum of money each month so that we would use a co-branded NBCi/EV1 site as our portal. This was after we used Planet Direct that was later acquired by Myway.com then Myway.com went out of business the NBCi had a portal division that "would never go out of business because they are backed by NBCi". We'll, let's just say about 90 days later we get a notice that says the gravy train is over and that they will be cutting off our portal in about 30 days.

So, in just 30 days, we went from collecting a substantial sum (we generated about 1.5 million page views a day on their portal), to having to spend $$$$$ to develop our own customizable portal and buy the content.

That's my gravy train no more story. So much for the free money.

NO, EV1 and Rackshack are not backed by NBCI.

Robert

PS .. No we do not own Ihostcafe but we do buy ads on the site. (lust like a few dozen other companies)
