Hello,
Do you want to build the server and host them on your home? I dont really understand what you want.
If you want to build a server and locate them ( co-location) somewhere else, you can do that.
contact us if you need help building one for yourself.

You can host it at home or your office depending upon what type of bandwidth, power, air conditioning, access you have at those locations. It would probably be easier to either purchase a server and send it to a colocation facility or rent a dedicated server that meets your specification that is already placed at a data center

Hosting a server off of your cable modem is a VERY bad idea. While you would need to check with your cable ISP, I would imagine that it is against most ISP's terms of service. In fact, some ISP's block incoming port 80 (webserver) requests.
As far as colocation, you might want to take a look at prioritycolocation.com Myles is a great guy and would treat you right.

If you can host it off a cheap home connection, then it'll probably work out better to pay for a shared hosting account..
