View Full Version : selling customers
Hostlead 07-11-2002, 09:58 AM Hello,
We at Host Lead are looking for a business partnership. We would like to sell our customers' that want to sign up for hosting. Basically the customer would fill out the order form and we would sell you the customer and tell the customer that host X ( you ) is our business partner and that host X will do the hosting for hostlead.
Go to our
UNIX plans (http://www.hostlead.com/webhosting/unix/plans/compare/) and Windows (http://www.hostlead.com/webhosting/windows/plans/compare/) plans. We would customize the plans for you if needed.

kcdworks 07-11-2002, 10:03 AM Seems interesting. How does this differ from a reseller program?
Joana 07-11-2002, 10:06 AM I guess they will be like an affiliate only not a reseller.. Because I think they don't want to do any support but only bringing customers to you. am I right ?
Techark 07-11-2002, 10:14 AM What is your proposal for spilt on revenue?
Hostlead 07-11-2002, 10:14 AM that's right joan basically we'd get the client for you and sell him/her to you. the selling price would be depending on if he/she wants to pay monthly/quaterly etc. and what plan he/she chooses.
kcdworks 07-11-2002, 10:23 AM Okay, let's look at your bronze Unix plan. It is:
Monthly: $10.95
Quarterly $29.85
Semi-Annual: $54.95
Annual: $109.50
Bi-Annual: $229.95
Based on each of these payment plans, what would the buy price be for a customer? Also, what's to stop your customer from looking at the host's plans and seeing that they cost less and moving to one of them?
With my business expanding in the VERY near future, I'd like to see how this works.
Hostlead 07-11-2002, 10:27 AM we are looking for either 1 business partner for both unix and windows or two partners ( 1 unix, 1 windows )
another thing..
requirements: we need somebody with a very fast response time, ( ie if I send you an email then we need to have a reply asap or else I/You will lose the customer.

kcdworks that's where the customizing of the hosting plans on the hostlead website comes into play. Your prices/your plans. So I can't really say how much we want from you. That's why we need 1 or 2 business partners with their plans on our site.
what would you be willing to pay for a 'bronze plan' customer?
Joana 07-11-2002, 10:33 AM Hostlead, will you be reponsible for billing to those clients? or billing/support/all issues will be directly to us?
Hostlead 07-11-2002, 10:39 AM no we will sell you the client ( name/address/email address/what their domain is/what plan they want). Once you pay us we will send you the contact info of the client. The client will get an email from us telling him/her that host X is a 'division'/partner for the unix/windows section and will handle everything from here on.
you do everything else. You do the money handling/customer support. It is your client.
Derek 07-11-2002, 03:09 PM Pretend the info listed on your site is our plan... how much would it cost?
Hostlead 07-11-2002, 03:10 PM see below for update.

we decided to take 15-20% per month.
Per month? So you aren't really selling the customer to anyone, then.. you want to "lease" the customer?
I am interested in working with you. I would give you the first two months of any hosting package you can "sell".
ie: If you had a prospective customer who was interested in your $10/month plan, then I would give you $20 and that's the end of the deal (assuming they actually signed up with me). No monthly commission or anything else. Just the cash "referral" fee and the customer is mine from that point on.
PM me for details if you're interested.
Hostlead 07-12-2002, 08:28 AM actually we changed our mind, since we got 'better' offers.
$15-30 dollars per customer is the price range you'd have to pay us if interested.
Also we wouldn't send you the emails but the order button on our site would go straight to your order site. This means you'd need an affialiate script to keep track of the customers we'd send you.
Hostlead 07-12-2002, 12:48 PM we still haven't decided what host we are going to take for the windows 'section'
PM or email me now
cahostnet 07-12-2002, 05:43 PM Hostlead, who did you take for the Linux? I sent you an email regarding this but didn't get a reply. If you're interested and want to talk let me know ASAP.
Hostlead 07-12-2002, 06:47 PM we'll give dialuphost.com (http://www.dialuphost.com ) a try for unix
windows...we don't know yet

Do you mind if I ask what the deal was? I'm curious because I thought my offer was decent, and I'd like to be able to improve my ability to win future offers. (PM me the info if you prefer.)
Thanks!
Hostlead 07-13-2002, 07:27 PM windows section is still available..
