View Full Version : would anyone know how to remove the text in this .png header file?
I have a .png file with a nice background, however there is some sample text on top of it.
Would anyone know using photoshop or another program how to (hide) or remove it so I can add text I want on top of this background.
If anyone would be so kind to show me how or even do it for me, it would be really appreciated.
File is attached.
Easy enough to recreate that in Fireworks. Here you go:

Did a little searching, and it seems this is a paid template. Can you tell me why you'd need this image corrected if you bought it? Seems to me that they would provide the original files for editing if you paid.
Would you please answer the question?
siforek 04-22-2007, 01:05 AM Wow! Don't tell me what I think just happened.
djseamus 04-22-2007, 04:06 AM something is rotten here
LUSH is definitely a paid template, from JoomlaShack, and yes, they do provide the files for customization of the graphics. The only way this could not be editable is if you haven't paid for the template and not received the full package. Piracy damages the good work being done by companies like Joomlashack
Yup, looking like I was had and may have helped him do something illegal. Obviously accidental on my part, but I didn't know it was a paid template until I looked into it. I thought he was just having trouble editing.
I've asked Joomla Shack for clarification, but I think I already know the answer.
djseamus 04-22-2007, 07:50 AM it happens, mate.
MonkeyFiles 04-22-2007, 07:56 AM yea don't worry this dude knew what he was posting and wasn't expecting you to research the image. Heck I was even gonna do it till I saw someone else had and what had happened.
I'm just a little taken aback here.
First, to clarify, bear: "Did you in fact buy this template and were only having trouble editing?",
I did in fact purchase this template. I was in contact with a person who lived in my area who offered this template for me (for $50) - he told me it was a full purchased legal template. And yes, that file that you edited bear was included in the ZIPPED template.
I dont appreciate being jumped on here. I dont really understand seeing all of these other responses by other people why its anyone else's business - I appreciate the concern that it might be pirated but is there any benefit of the doubt? I hope everyone here gives some benefit of the doubt to their customers in their respective businesses.
Bear, I didint see your "EDIT" when I posted my reply thanking you. So invoking an infraction b/c I didint respond to your edited post within a few hours?
In any case, bear if you are sure that this template I purchased off of this person is in fact pirated, I will take it down immediatly and purchase one directly off of that website.
Please let me know,

From the authors at JoomlaShack:
We do indeed provide the layered source .png file, and encourage our customers to customize their templates to fit their needs. This includes editing the header graphic.
That means they provide the image in layers, making it quite simple to remove or edit the layer containing the logo you wanted removed.
Secondly, they sell that template for $34.95 (http://www.joomlashack.com/shop/product.php?productid=180&cat=23&page=1), not $50, so you might wish to have a talk with the person that sold it to you. Also, there is this from thier terms (http://www.joomlashack.com/shop/help.php?section=conditions):You may not sub-license, assign, or transfer this license to anyone else without prior written consent from Joomlashack.
I apologize if my assumption was in error, but from my point of view, you didn't seem to posess the layered PNG file from the paid template. As for the POC (point of contact) you received, this was to ensure we heard from you since I can't be expected to monitor every thread that needs attention. If you wish to discuss the POC, please use the helpdesk.

Unauthorized Use
You may not place any of our products, modified or unmodified, on a diskette, CD, website or any other medium and offer them for redistribution or resale of any kind without prior written consent from Joomlashack.
Assignability
You may not sub-license, assign, or transfer this license to anyone else without prior written consent from Joomlashack.Unless your contact person has expressed written permission from JoomlaShack, you have purchased an illegal copy of this template, and you are in the unfortunate position of being both a victim and a perpetrator.
You're a victim, because you purchased the template and asked for help modifying it in good faith. You're a perpetrator because a lacking degree of due diligence on your part has now made another member liable for his actions having assisted you.
Obviously, the right thing to do here is to contact JoomlaShack, explain the situation, see what they have to say and either purchase the template legitimately, or perhaps they'll show some lenience and allow circumstances to be as they are, since you're doing the right thing.
Hi,
Secondly, they sell that template for $34.95 (http://www.joomlashack.com/shop/product.php?productid=180&cat=23&page=1), not $50,
wow - I feel really stupid - if only I knew the website he (pirated) the template off of before he sold it to me - I would have never been taken advatage of.... :unhappy:
You're a perpetrator because a lacking degree of due diligence on your part has now made another member liable for his actions having assisted you.

Given the situation I hopefully would think that JoomlaShack would not cause Bear to be LIABLE for helping me edit it- I will go ahead and contact JoomlaShack to get this straightened out.
I appreciate everyone's concern but I also really want to reiterate that its never a good idea to judge someone before hearing the whole story.

Closed by request, but we would appreciate an update via the helpdesk once you hear from this company.
Just to update this, Joomla Shack has come to an agreement with this user and he's now using a legal version of the template in question. Amex wasn't at fault for the template being illegally obtained.
