I would appreciate pointers to a shopping cart that can do the following, ideally out of the box:

Differential pricing for each product based on the registered location of the customer/shipping address. For example, one price for US/UK and another for less developed countries.
Ability to show stock details (out of stock)
Multiple shipping addresses. Either store multiple addresses and choose one at checkout or provide the ability to add one at checkout.
Profile info of customer registered once and auto-filled in for subsequent orders.
Easily add products and their images- the client is an organisation where retired people who will manage the system work as volunteers.
Support for ability to set Indian rupees as the primary currency with the option to show the conversion to other currencies at checkout time or even during the course of the order.

Thanks.

Have a look at CubeCart http://www.cubecart.com Quite powerful but very simple to manage.

As of functionality I am not sure if it meets all of your requirements out of the box, but there must be some third party modules that may help you. Moreover they have a very active community, where you can post your requirements so that some may help you out (most probably on paid basis).

Best part is CubeCart has got both free and paid version, you can set INR as the main currency and can integrate it with ccavenue among the many others.

Most of the better more developed carts will do everything you are looking for except item numbers 1 & 6 on your list. I know some carts will translate the price from one currency to another but not offer a different price depending on the country. That would have to have some custom programming I believe. As far as letting you pay in different currencies I don't know if I have ever heard of that either. Usually you set the currency to the country the user registers from. That may have to be a custom program as well.

Good luck with your search. Let us know what you find out.
