I was just curious if anyone uses Yahoo as a host? I don't know much about hosting and this will be my first website. I am a photographer so I will need a little space but not too much. If anyone has any other suggestions on large host sites I would appreciate it. I don't mind paying a little more than the cheaper ones, but I don't want to pay a lot of money. Yahoo seems to have pretty good deals, but I would still like more feedback. Thanks for your help, Michael

I am not sure what they use for the shared solutions but I would think maybe they use raq's as those are the dedicated servers they offer.. If so those servers are ok but kind of getting out of date where nowadays most hosts run atleast 1GHZ servers with 512-1GB ram and raqs are 450MHZ processors and usually 256MB ram.. Thats something you might want to contact them about though.. To tell you the truth with big name companies you are just paying $$$ for the name.. nothing else..

you can get better deals in others sites, check the Advertising Forums

I've used them, and they are good - but there are much better deals out there that are just as reliable.

I just had a customer who canclled with yahoo and came to us. Beacuse of yahoos high pricing and poor support. You better stick with smaller companies who care about the customer not the money. Personally i would not go with yahoo., but the choise is yours

I have never hosted with yahoo, but then again I always choose to do business with the smaller company.

If you want to just be another number, then I would say go for it. If you want personal support, with great prices, I would say check out some of the hosts that frequent these forums.

Yahoo has their hands in too many things IMHO

Like any large host, their shared hosting will be technically superior with inferior support.

Two of my friends used Yahoo has a host, and when they finally cancelled their accounts (or tried to), it was nasty.

They have very terrible support. They are great if you never need help, but if you do, and your answers aren't in their F.A.Q. then forget it.

Since their price isn't extra cheap either, there is almost no reason to host with them at all.

Avoid Yahoo hosting at all costs.
