Does anyone know the DV2 backbone?
Someone asked it at their forum, but they didn't respond.
Cogent 100Mbps line or 1Gbps? Aleron 100Mbps line?
I know DV2 is a good data center. And I want to know it for answering my customer's questions.

They have loads of internet connections
MFN , Qwest , Aleron , Cogent , Telia ... being just 5 of them ... there are over 10 more :)
i believe the cogent line is 100mbit .. and the aleron line is 1000mbit

I heard they had a gig-e to MFN / AboveNet, a gig-e to Aleron and a 100Mbps pipe to Cogent.
Aleron / Telia etc. are the same.

I did traceroutes from 12 different "backbones" to dv2 and you can see the results at the link below. It appears to me they have a connection to cogent/netrail and to national-net :-)

Your post was correct? I don't think they have qwest connectivity.

they also have private peering
How exactly is this defined? Private peering with whom?

I've asked them several times but they say they can't tell because of an NDA..

I was under the assumption the private peering was actually Aleron's private peering.

They have a connection to NationalNet, Cogent, and then private peering with NetRail, which is now owned by Cogent. The connections to MFN (AboveNet) and Aleron are owned by NationalNet, not DV2.

We did have our own AGIS line into the DC, we had it removed, when National-Net moved into the DC, as there was no point us both having a connection to the same provider, when we are interlinked with each other.
We are looking into adding 2 more Tier-1 providers, our private peering still exists, and we can hook up any provider from our private peering list, within 15-45 minutes.

I am a network beginner. I don't understand private peering exactly.
Does anyone explain private peering for beginners?
If DV2 have 1Gbps * 2 = 2Gbps total backbone, private peerings are another pipe or are included in these 2Gbps backbone pipe? What is the difference between connection and private peering?
