This forum seems like a great place with a lot of usage. I think it could use three more boards that compile all the information here and allow users to have quick-reference in selecting a host:

1. a list of the major, unbiased host-review sites; (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59950)

2. a list of user/moderator-rated reputable hosts;

3. a list of free, adless hosts. (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59958)

Until new boards are opened, this post is an attempt at #2:
____________________________

This post hopefully will be a list of the major hosts that are:

• reputable
• reliable
• fast
• full-featured
• affordable
• provide good customer service.

If you know a host that has proven to excell in these areas over a period of time, please list it here. It would also be helpful if you provide a link, cost, space/bandwidth, server type, any drawbacks or lacking features, and perhaps a brief review.

The format could look somthing like this:
______________________
A1 Webhosting
_link to site_

$60/year for 300 megs / 5 gig transfer
unix
no cobra support

Great host, been with them for 2 years.

Hey, great idea! :) Too bad I run the company myself, otherwise I'd be happy to review myself :D lmao

Sorry, you can't add a listing if you are affiliated with the company (as per the rules). I was mistaken.

If you resell hosting, please tell what company you resell for. The only problem with you wanting to have hosts involved in this thread is, it doesn't fall within the Rules (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/misc.php?s=&action=forum-rules).
Otherwise; a worthy project.

No one want to get the ball rolling here? Someone must know some affordable, major hosting services.

Good idea!

I hope findsp isn't on the webhosting directory list! I just noticed they had ***** ads, seems money speaks..

I don't think that this is fair - everyhost deserves the opportunity to advertise, they are a major host with thousands of clients so more problem arises however you'll find many problems and emails we've received from customers and bad reviews about many other top hosts.

You should know the difference between recommendation and advertising.

Let's not go into this argument again, because it seems to me that it became very popular to say bad things about some hosts - let just focus on providing a good service ourselves, and advice customers of good service providers... ok?

Thanks.
