View Full Version : Fist time going Dedicated... what to choose...
stryka 07-10-2002, 04:42 PM I luv this place... it's like a baby in a candy store...
so many options.. here's my dilema... I am going dedicated for the first time and I have been scouring these forums for the best dedicated provider and here's what I know i need...
P3 1.Ghz
Atleast 512MB RAM
Atleast 60GB H/D
# of IP's Included
Atleast 300 GB of Monthly Traffic
Remote Reboots (APC Switch)
MUST HAVE: CPANEL/WHM - looks nice for beginners
Monthly: Max $200usd
I alwayz like webreseller.net but they don't offer CPANEL... Eserver.biz look great but go over my MAX monthly budget... I am working in CANADIAN dollars... FastServers looks good too but too much for the setup fee and they look really new... hmm... wonder how good the Celeron is? Rackshack... no thanx... i need a newer host where i won't get lost in the shuffle...
Anyhow, i guess i named the main ones... feel free to provide more suggestions...
Even tell me if I am being too picky...
Thanx...
p.s. If I can spend more... Eservers.biz would be in the lead right now...
DomiNET.net 07-10-2002, 04:44 PM nocster
stryka 07-10-2002, 04:53 PM hmm... nocster has great monthly pricing... will write them down and do some searches on them... they are even managed... that setup fee is hefty though...
will balance that out with the other lower setup fees and higher monthly fees of the others to see if it works out the same...
thanx...
anyone else

I'm located in Canada, and I'm also interested in FS...:)
Fastservers isn't new, they have been around for atleast a year, but not too many people have known about them untill they released their new packages. About the set-up fee maybe you could contact their sales dept. and ask them If they could spread it across a few months, so that you won't have to give up a lot of money up front, (I'm not sure if they do this but it's always worth asking.)
Good luck in your search...;)
sHosts 07-10-2002, 10:30 PM I think nocster is the company that allows you to spread setup fee. Just ask their sales rep.
mas3000 07-10-2002, 11:10 PM I would recommend Nocster also.:D

We use them. And have had nothing but great service and support.
If this is your first dedicatedl; you would do well to look at them. As they are a managed provider.
PowerSurge 07-11-2002, 03:09 PM Salutations:
FastServers.Net has been in existence for over 2 year, our parent company PowerSurge Technologies, Inc. has been doing web hosting since 1996. FastServers.Net originally started out providing higher dollar dedicated hosting solutions to clients around world and just spent 3-4 months re-adjusting prices, packages, and offerings to cater to a larger audience.
I will not go into a sales pitch at this time, but just wanted to comment that FastServers.Net is not a "new" company, we have a solid foundation and expert knowledge in dedicated and co-location and look forward to doing business with the members of WHT. We have quite a few new customers already and have requested that they come back and post their experience at WHT.
If you have any questions about our company, product, or services do not hesitate to drop us an e-mail sales@fastservers.net
Regards,
Aaron Phillips
inquisitive 07-11-2002, 03:13 PM Or perhaps you can contact rostoma ..he is very frequent on these boards and being a distributor of CPanel he offers very competitive prices for Cpanel based servers
stryka 07-12-2002, 02:16 PM Ok... i am looking @ NOCSTER very closely now...
Help with one other thing though cuz I have lost track of the CHIP Speed craze....
P4 1GHZ vs 1GHZ Celeron... what is the difference? is it huge or is the celeron still pretty decent... is the celeron just a P3?
hmmm.... i would save $100 in setup charges... and $20/month... not a big deal...
than...
zdwebhosting 07-12-2002, 02:20 PM lol i dont think they make p4 1ghz it must be a p3

CabalStudios (Shazad) takes care of his people.
edude 07-13-2002, 12:37 AM www.staminus.net = great support, althought it doesn't match your bandwidth requirements, they are running some specials here: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59548
E-mail them and request cpanel - they did it for me..
Gem Hexen 07-13-2002, 11:33 PM www.prioritycolocation.com is a good place for beginners.

Shazad and eServers are great, but since this is stryka's first dedicated server, maybe he would be better off with a managed server, like Nocster or FastServers
