Are there any good ressellers that are fast and based in the UK?

preferably offering a lot of bandwidth, MySQL databases, PHP support, asp/chillisoftasp and with a decent control panel.

cost is not really a problem, but if poss. cheap!

cheers

btw. ive been looking at splashhost.com. I am targeting a general market i.e. USA and UK...but most likely my customers will be from the UK...will it make any difference if the servers are in the USA...the site and ping seems fast enough.

Any views of splashost.com? any UK resellers out there?

You'll find that the speed difference between having servers located in the USA over the UK will be minimal. If you are looking for a lot of bandwidth and cheap prices, then you will have to consider a host with servers in the USA as the price for bandwidth in the UK is *very* high.

i dunno if they have asp or no

i dont think it matters if the servers are in the U.S. so long as the host is good.

I wouldn't say prices for UK bandwidth are *very* high. They are higher, and there is no RackShack in the UK, but if you look in the right places you can get well under £100 / mbps

Depends on how you're measuring it. Typical pings to a server in the UK from the UK should be around 20-30. Typical pings to a server in the USA from the UK are usually 120-180. So, it could be said that it's 6 times faster hosting them in the UK.

However, with perceived performance you probably wouldn't notice much difference when browsing, but under various conditions (e.g. if you have a particularly fast connection yourself to the internet) I'd certainly not call it minimal.

Take a look at: http://www.whichhosts.com/ for a list of good UK based resellers and also, browse the forums there to find any current special offers. You should find what you are looking for there.

cheers...had a look...is 121host.co.uk any good? they look kinda promising I have not had any personal experience with them so I cant comment on there service or support. What I would advise you to do is send a few "Pre Sales" emails to the compainies you are considering and judge the responce. Although not concrete, it will give you an indication on reply time and the knowledge of the company. (2 line responce or a detailed reply with all the questions answered)

Ping times may be 6 times bigger, but that only really makes a difference if you are playing games or something like that. Your download speeds will still be the same.

oneandone.com

I have heard good stuff about them, but I'm not entirely sure if they remark on reseller plans or not. E-mail or phone them. I recommend phoning them to find out if you could have a customised reseller plan.

Apart from that there pricing is as far as I know good. :stickout

Support, I think is fine although I'm not too sure.

Domain support and transfer is very good as far as I blieve.

You could go for Vibus.net. Its the host that people tend to turn to when ripped off by certain other UK reseller hosts.

Since people tend to learn the hard way and go in this direction, that has to count for something.
