Hi all,

I havent come across such a psoting and thought it would be a good idea to share your knowledge, you dont have to unveil your success stratergies, just some info that would help others.

When you was first starting what problems did you encounter and if you had the time and resources to turn back the clock what would you have done in a typical situation that wasnt to your knowledge at the time.

This is kind of what the tutorial section is for....

But I will give my word of advice,

Research your host, wether it be for shared, reseller , dedicated or even Colo.

Researcha and talk to them.

Is it very possible that a typical resller you thinking about using is also reselling on behalf of someone else. Ive often wondered about this and it may sound silly, but the loop could go on forever.

What you want to do is always go to the sourse, such is if your after looking for a Reseller account, find a host that uses Dedicated servers and splits accounts into reseller accounts. If you are looking for a dedicated server go right to a datacenter not a 3rd party that just re-sell's and takes 3 times as long to fix problem.

Firstly resellers can't create reseller accounts (under normal circumstances)

Secondly going straight to the dc means unmanaged usually and you may get better service with a 3rd party and even a better price.

If you want managed then go to a company that offers managed servers.

I came across a very intersting post earlier today, a reseller was selling domains to clients.. wait for it.... however, the clients never owned the domain names although they purchased them, how is this possible ? is it legal. :S

^ Of Course not, Only If the host was " leasing " them the domains. Sometimes hosts are listed as admin contacts or technical contacts but the owner should always be the client/customer.

I guess the biggest problem Im faced with is finding a reseller that has outstanding server uptime and of cause reseller support.

Providing quality support is what sets you apart these days. The good thing is that most hosts do provide support to your clients as well, if you are a reseller. It is always a good idea to ask this question before buying a reseller package. You would not want to host with any provider who does not resolve your customer's problems for you.

The best advice anyone can give , is to search at WHT , if there are no or relatively low amount of negative reviews, send them an email or chat to them on their chat soft or on msn etc.

If you like them , buy a package with at least a 48hr money back guarantee. So that if you change your mind , you can get your money back and go somewhere else.

best of luck.

That's a good idea, but, unfortunately, most of issues arise after these 48hr, when you start dealing with your clients.
