How would you rate them from 1 to 7 with 1 being the best?

Hello

I can speak only for the hosts that I have accounts with (HostGator and ResellerZoom). Excellent service in all fields (hardware, support, uptime) so far.

And while surfing these forums HostNine and InnoHosting seem very professional too.

Here is another question on these Reseellers;

From those who know and are clients, how would you rate their mail servers?

Also, if someone on the server is Spamming how do they protect the non-spammer?

Have you ever had your mail server black-listed?

How did your host handle it?

:lovewht:

Reseller Zoom and Hostgator have per hour limit on each domain which is 200 emails (please check with them for correct number)

There will always going to be spammers on your server. You have to continuously take different measures to stop or moderate them.

Not really. There's a lot to be said for proactive measures taken against spammers. You can, for the most part, stop spammers in their tracks before they even begin.

Could you give us some ways we can stop them before they start spamming. I believe it will be helpfull to all of us.

Proactive measures are taken at server level. It depends how much the root provider. From a resellers point of view, there's not much you can do aside from choosing the right provider.

Things resellers can do to reduce the chances of spam originating from there account include:
- Educating your users about how it can be caused
- Ensuring your users always have patched up scripts
- Setting harsh consequences for spamming
- Reminding users not to use public directory permissions with 777
- Pre-screen for fraudulent orders

To name a few...

***SUMMARY***: HostNine's support can get you close to the edge sometimes, but when you get to someone that care as much as Ben, you will be safe.
I highly recommend them for:
-> LIGHTNING SPEED ON FTP
-> "Fastest POP I have ever seen" (My partner)
-> Very good hardware (Dell Poweredge powered by AMD Opteron and 4 GB's of ram)
-> reliable network.. Level3
-> Top notch datacenter.. Fastservers.net

Btw, I have not contacted H9's support through tickets since March 3rd.

In fact there is no top x companies for everyone, it depend on what you need and what they can deliver.

So here is a bit of information.
I sent a pre-sale e-mail to the list.
Except for Kualo which I am using.

Of the others after 24 hours I got replies from only the following.

1st http://www.hostnine.com within 1 hour.

2nd http://www.hostgator.com within 2 hours

3rd http://www.resellerzoom.com within 16 hours

Could this be related to how support would be addressed...?

Could this be related to how support would be addressed...?If only it would be that easy. :)

Sales department, especially in larger companies, are separated from support, and often enough don't apply the same urgency levels or have the same working hours. Smaller companies may have the same people handling both sales and support, but sales responses may lag if they consider support (and thus current customers) to be more important.

Most definitely. Many companies, us included, have the sales team that works in business hours only whilst support is 24x7.
A better option would be to find some current customers of the companies you look at and ascertain their thoughts.

I'm a little confused why we were added but none the less. I don't think there will be a whole lot of feedback for the most part our customers don't come from WHT or they do then never come to WHT again.

My opinion on the topic at hand is I don't think there is a really logical to rate to rate say the top 10 from 1 to 10. You're going to find that one may be best for one person and not for the next. The fact there are many servers and customers are spread out can lead to varying experiences. Along with that the same idea for support numerous techs some may give better responses than others.

Just opening a dialog for folks to compare and express what they may like. So...

I must say I was impressed with the reply to a sales e-mail I sent out... Less than 20 minutes...

Perhaps there are more pro clients here than you may think.

Sometimes we only hear the "BAD" about hosts and not so much of the "GOOD" they do in service and support.

Maybe we can see more good reports...

I am sure there are many GOOD Resellers.

I started this list to consolidate the ones that seem to have the latest positive comments and the ones I myself may consider.

I think it is always good to keep looking for the better and best just to be on the safe side and have a backup.

I have thought about having more than one Hosting Reseller just as I have more than one Domain Reseller.

Alot of hosting providers offer 24/7/365 support but, sales (for questions ...etc, excluding signups) is business hours.

I strongly suspect one of the companies on your shortlist Ireland double up sales/support after business hours as on previous experience support queries most always get told to email in . . .

HostNine is pretty amazing and I have used a few of those in your list. HG and RZ. I went to H9 and was never happier.

I only switched for personal reasons to KevHosting.com which they havel ived up to their reputation as well and I continue to be well taken care and very satisfied with their level of service.

The problem with this is in practice the best is only what's best for you and the best for you isn't necessarily the best for everyone ;)

HG have changed a lot over it's time and not always for the better.

They come in for a lot criticism - reading through the HG forums (http://forums.hostgator.com/) will give you a better idea of how they perform at present ;)

Their reseller plans can't compete with what they offer on shared, you have to go dedicated to get anywhere near!

HostFrog may or may not be good but IMHO when a change of ownership happens its best to be cautious and wait a few months to see how it plays out.

I don't have first hand experience with Clook but have heard enough good things about them on these forums. They are a bit pricey as compared to other very good hosts but they do offer some nice features that some may want (raid drive, etc...). I would say they should go on the list.

As should Knownhost, Sonet7, HTTPMe, Budgetreseller, Bluewho based on posts on these forums.

EDIT: I should mention that I think everyone's TOP XX list will be different since everyone has different needs and priorities. I like to have a "Top Hosts" list for anyone that provides excellent service/support.

Be very careful when dealing with Resellerzoom, I'd been with them more or less for a couple of years. They have a great uptime and fast tech support, but they are very very strict with CPU and memory usage that might cause your account to be suspended, or your site to spit out a lot of internal server error which leaves your client very unhappy. So if you have very busy websites and also scripts on modrewrite/cron, might as well look for another hosting company. One very good alternative is Webkore.net where I transfer everything all my sites. Sad thing is I misundertood some of Resellerzoom's rules on account cancellation and left one site when I cancelled my account and I wasn't able to get a year of data from it.

Well, prior to to using the service and support..
I would say that the fact that they gave non scripted answers to ALL and I mean ALL of my pre-sales questions (I ask a lot of questions) and I thought that the free Site Builder would be something that my customer would like and also I had been wanting to give modernbill a try, but it was not really in my budget as far as getting my own lic.
