View Full Version : watermark on home made video?
~kev~ 04-13-2007, 08:51 AM Hello everyone, can some please suggest some software to put a watermark on my videos?
These videos are taken with my wifes sony camera and are in .mpg format. The videos are uploaded to youtube, then embedded into my forum.
So regardless if the videos are seen on youtube, or on my website, the viewer sees the site address. Plus, if someone copies my videos, I want some kind of credit - as in the watermark.
Vex76 04-13-2007, 10:07 AM Hey, Kev,
I have a free solution for you - you can read more about it here (http://www.1stengineers.com/Articles/Article/Protecting-Home-Made-Videos-with-Digital-Watermarks/106) and download your trial version straight from here (http://www.videowatermarkfactory.com/).
Hope it will work for you. :agree:
Hostwolf 04-13-2007, 10:27 AM Do you want a watermark or do you just want to add a footer with your website? The latter can be done with Microsoft Movie Maker.
saukwebsolutions 04-13-2007, 10:47 AM Is this guys site safe? I am trying to download this file and getting speeds of almost dialup.
Just wondering if this is a trust worthy file and place to purchase something like this.
~kev~ 04-25-2007, 10:49 AM Hey Vex76 - sorry for taking so long to reply to this post. The video water mark soft you recommend is PERFECT! It even compresses the video while its being water marked!!! Thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for!
One of my home made videos was embedded in another website from youtube, now that my watermark is in my video, its like free advertising.

Hey, ~kev~,
I am glad you liked it, dude. Somehow I was pretty sure you'd love it:)
All the best,
Vex
mummy 05-03-2007, 07:22 AM use Video Edit Magic for that.
first you have to select the video image that is going to be used as a watermark.
the second step: Make sure the image file format is supported by Video Edit Magic.
Open the video that you want to watermark in Video Edit Magic. Add it to Video Track 1 in the (http://www.deskshare.com/vem.aspx)timeline.
add the image that is to be used as a watermark: Open the file to be used for Watermarking and add it to the timeline. You can also use a video file for a watermark instead of an image. Make sure that the duration of this file as well as the effect and transition added to the Timeline is same as that of the video to watermarked if you want the watermark for the entire duration of the video. You can do this by stretching the file, effect and transition in the Timeline.
Now add luminance transition: Select the luminance transition from the ones listed under video transitions. Configure the Settings to adjust the level of Luminance. Select the keep intensity constant option and set the intensity percentage in the range of 60 to 80. Any values lower will make the watermark seem opaque and resemble an image placed on top of the video file. Any values higher will make the watermark seem too transparent that it would be too hard to detect.
f you wish to use a smaller, less noticeable watermark in the corner of your video, which is how most people watermark their videos traditionally, you can use the Animated transform effect to resize and move the watermark to the desired size and location.
Hope this helps!
Vex76 05-03-2007, 08:10 AM The only downside of last two suggested softs I see is that they are not free. Anyway, they have a trial version and I'll definitely try them to see if they work fine.
Mummy and Tape, thank you;)
~kev~ 05-07-2007, 03:21 PM I just wanted to update this post:
I bought the paid version of water mark factory a week ago and could not be happier. The software lets me choose font size, color and location on the video. While watermarking the video, the software also compresses the video to about 1/2 - 3/4 its original size. Some of the other suggestions required a 2 or more step process, or the image that was going to be water marked had to be supported. All I wanted was to insert text at the bottom of the video so I could protect my original / home made productions. Water mark factory fits the bill perfectly.
DesignBear 09-17-2009, 06:17 AM Most video editing software will allow you to add your own watermark, even free software.
robert14 10-06-2009, 03:55 PM So far i did not find any free video watermark software.
If you exclude the trial versions...
But i found one that is cheap, this kind of software has a price range between $99 and 299.
I got one at $16 and does what i need:
moonvalleysoft.com/video-watermark-p-41.html
I can preload my logo, i can scale it and place it, conversion is done in the same source format but that's fine, it does not support png though, maybe that's reason of the lower price, i feel like suggesting it to you guys.
chicodogs 10-07-2009, 02:09 AM You might want to consider Watermark Master or Camtasia. Both are great programs to easily edit your videos. They aren't freeware tho
CraftsVision 10-10-2009, 04:27 AM There are bunch of watermarking tools available for video and you may get them for free as well but most of them will be trails with restriction of 30 days or video length restriction.
I recommend if its one time job then get it done by some video editor or if you will need to watermark more videos later then simply buy a utility that you like.
