A config like that if you needed it, you should not be looking at the cheapest, but the most reliable. That is a BIG config for a plan that honestly, with real bandwidth (non-cogent) would be impossible as the bandwidth would cost more than what you make, not to mention the server upkeep. Kylecool 07-09-2002, 10:20 PM Yea, it's probably cogent. I bet they have a lot of restrictions too, and they cut you off at one point if you use so much server usage, etc. Read the fine print, ask what kind of bandwidth it is/which datacneter they are in. :) Goldfiles 07-09-2002, 10:22 PM I am new at this, but what exactly is wrong with cogent bandwidth? and what is it? okihost 07-09-2002, 10:24 PM Do a search on any hosting companies you are interested in. If there is anything bad to be said you will see it there.. This is the best way to avoid issues down the road. Cognent bandwidth is fine people just seem to have something against it all the time, I say until it fails dont bash on it.. Sure it may not be the fastest but hey it does the job pretty good. eddy2099 07-09-2002, 10:50 PM Alwayswebhosting.com gets their servers from Rackshack and uses whatever network Rackshack is using. It is actually no secret at all. If you are interested, Rackshack claims to use the following networks http://www.rackshack.net/aboutus/networks.asp Ronnie at alwayswebhosting.com provides good support and do frequent this forum. viGeek 07-10-2002, 01:43 AM I would suppose this offer is legit. If you think about it, they limit your pop3 boxes, and only give you a small amount of disk space im comparisson to data transfer. I mean most people really dont realize how much even 1 GB is. My site is optimized for size & load time, I receive 400+(800+ impressions) unique visitor per day at the main page. And they obviously click off onto other things. Not to mention I host about 20 sub-domains for friends, that all receives at least 20 unique visitors per day. YET i only use 1GB per month. Global-Host2 07-10-2002, 02:00 AM Search forums they have extremly bad feedback. insiderhosting 07-10-2002, 02:33 AM Originally posted by Global-Host2 Search forums they have extremly bad feedback. Actually this is not true. I would say that AWH receives a lot more positive feedback than negative feedback. From what I read and hear about the company they run a good ship with Ronnie at the helm. The only thing that I don't agree with is the massive overselling that they do, but hey it's not my company. -Steven Kylecool 07-10-2002, 02:42 AM GoldFlies, just search these forums, read a couple threads about them, both good and bad, and decide for yourself. :) DarrenK 07-10-2002, 02:57 AM If I'm thinking correctly as kylecool, well then hes made a good point. Offers like these do go out and I might aswell add it ain't the top companies that offer it either. I'm sure Always Web Hosting made a mistake and ment 6GB. 6Gb sound about right. porcupine 07-10-2002, 03:22 AM I think the point of it is, from what i've heard, Alwayswebhosting heavily oversells some accounts, but they take it like a man from what i've heard. If you get a 60gb/mo package at $10/mo, from my understanding, alwayswebhosting might not make a profit, might take a loss, but they wont cut you off (and thats something we can all respect). This may be inaccurate, but thats the impression i've got from previous threads. mas3000 07-10-2002, 03:35 AM If you used the bandwidth they give you, alwayswebhosting would definately take a loss. They're heavily overselling. Do a search on them yourself and read the feedback. |
