Darylngch 04-12-2007, 09:40 PM I've yet to try advertising on newspaper. But, i heard that lots of people are getting success from it. Espacially, if its in countries which are largely untapped (Such as Asian countries) Atarim 04-12-2007, 09:41 PM It depends on what the site is about. Some sites are best promoted on the web itself. Others might not be. davidpaj 04-12-2007, 09:43 PM It depends on what the site is about. Some sites are best promoted on the web itself. Perhaps I should look over this strategy in terms of succeding :) Seriously - it really depends on what you want to achieve and what service you are offering. I'm guessing you are a webhost, or starting one. In that case, anything alternative. Anything that carves you into a niche. Anything that hasn't been done. - now this, of course, is hard... so I'd have to go with viral marketing in general. At least to get going. Atarim 04-12-2007, 09:45 PM In that case, it doesn't hurt to keep posting here. :) But many hosts find the best promotion is off-web, with local businesses. Discussions 04-12-2007, 09:47 PM I’ve actually found Press Releases to be a powerful tool for new & old websites/forums, and depending upon which specific area you want to generate leads from you would need to write your Press Release Accordingly. These things can help you gain new visitors, new members and help the reputation of your site/forum or it can completely diminish what you originally set out to create. You can create several press releases for free and on various topics. XLOnlineHost 04-12-2007, 11:22 PM What some websites do is open a MAIN site, and then open like a Review Site that writes about other sites, but since you are the owner of the review site you will be able to control the amount of press and promotion your main site receives. Another good way to promote your website for free is to join Top sites, where your ranking is controlled by how many people vote for your site or the amount of visitors your website recover, this is one of the most common ways to promote fan based sites and a great hit booster. lorem ipsum 04-13-2007, 07:20 AM I’ve actually found Press Releases to be a powerful tool for new & old websites/forums, and depending upon which specific area you want to generate leads from you would need to write your Press Release Accordingly. If you're interested in SEO, you should know it's half art, half science, as a website must cater to both search engines and humans, equally well. http://www.highrankings.com/articles.htm http://www.highrankings.com/forum Should be two good place to start and learn both aspects of the trade. crandall87 04-13-2007, 12:19 PM WebGrafix has appeared in two local newspapers over the last couple of days as we have been featured in the business sections. It is basically an almost full page article about the business. It is still early days to know whether this will provide us with lots of new local customers but I will keep you posted. Other methods of promotion that we use have been mentioned already but one work of advice is to always market. Try and do a little each day and try and get your link on as many websites as possible. Make sure however that you are linked on relevant websites. Biju 04-13-2007, 12:30 PM Depends. i would mainly see google , yahoo and news paper media. business often depends and the accordingly advertising changes. mikey1090 04-13-2007, 12:42 PM i guess the best way is text link and PPC. I tried one of those traffic packages, and it actually came. Over 10k visits(real, unique) but no registrations, so it clearly want targeted. CoolocityAdmin 04-13-2007, 12:54 PM Well, this has been an issue that my team has been going over while I was building the website. Here is what we came up with (hope this helps you, and hope no competitors out there lol) Press release - they're free, just google "how to write a press release" and look into it. It's actually good free advertising. Free advertising online - Theres a few ways to do this....blogs, ezines, and affiliate linking is good. (Google Adsense is one of these) Best way is to get your banner on someone else's site that is similiar to yours, but not a competitor without adding one of their banners to your site. I use MySpace for this with over 100 mil users, it gets out there. Pay-per-click - Google and Yahoo I believe are the 2 largest search engines, meaning they're used by the majority of the worlds population. Depending on how many competitors you have, you can actually get a campaign in PPC for $100/mo at only $0.5 per click. Traffic packages - I know there are alot of traffic packages out there, and someone posted here that they got the 10k hits but wasnt targeted so thats a dud. I found one though that garuntee's 100k unique hits per month at a targeted audience for your product. www.i-web-marketing.com (http://www.i-web-marketing.com) does this (I'm pretty sure thats their link...they're called Intellegent Web Marketing if you have to google them). You can also go to www.exitexchange.com (http://www.exitexchange.com) and get some nice, clean pop-unders (no one likes pop-ups).Hope this helps some :) Have fun marketing and as mentioned before, dont just get 1 marketing campaign going once and leave it, you have to dedicate at least 1 hour a day after your launch to getting new marketing options for your site. I have a team of 8 in my co-op....I build the pages, 2 give me the content for the pages, and 5 spend at least 1 hour each searching up new ways to market our product, if that gives you any idea lol. Have fun above all else!!! <note: Oh yeah, dont forget text links....make sure you put a link to your main site in your signatures for all of your forums and emails and as often as you can in blogs or forums, to a text linke like such - Come check out my page guys www.Coolocity.com - (http://www.coolocity.com) Neckar Unrivaled 04-15-2007, 09:01 AM Wow I never knew I could write a press release. I mean I only run a fan site. But I do run many contests on my site so maybe that could help me out. I'll also look into the other ideas give. I mostly just build on word of mouth. deang 04-15-2007, 09:36 AM Have you had any success with all the replies youve had, would be nice to see if any of the above mentioned worked for you. CoolocityAdmin 04-15-2007, 03:29 PM Wow I never knew I could write a press release. I mean I only run a fan site. But I do run many contests on my site so maybe that could help me out. I'll also look into the other ideas give. I mostly just build on word of mouth. My business has been run on word of mouth for the last 6 years, me and my team are really looking into doing online marketing and other forms of advertising that are not really used by many in the company ;) Best of luck!! Atarim 04-15-2007, 06:26 PM Submitted a press release to an online press release service related to one of my sites over the weekend. We'll see how it works! crandall87 04-15-2007, 06:45 PM May I ask what online press release service you used? Atarim 04-15-2007, 11:48 PM That wasn't for my hosting business, but a religious site. The news service is specific to that sort of thing. But probably if you search, you will find similar services for your niches, including hosting. :) SeriousB 04-16-2007, 08:11 AM Hi, Davidpaj, Most of what I'd recommend probably was mentioned already. Anyway, out of the free tactics to promote your web site, you definitely can't do without link bait and a dramatic increase of your site linkability as a whole. What else? Marketing every day, getting more and more public awareness, let's say by press releases on the appropriate spots. At least in the beginning exploiting links and press releases is essential... Good luck! crandall87 04-16-2007, 08:15 AM Unique and interesting content also helps. That way people will link to you. Also if you are in a niche people will link to you. One of my other businesses is in a niche and we got a lot of people posting our link on forums for others who are looking for a site that offers our service/products. mummy 04-16-2007, 09:08 AM Google ad words. Create ads and choose keywords, which are words or phrases related to your business. When people start searching on Google your add may appear right next to the search results. That's a good way to start I think. Another good tactic of doing that is by writing articles. There's a great difference from article to article. I am talking about quality articles that convert themselves into loads of traffic on your site. This is a good way of spreading your message across the Internet. And last but not least, the link exchange. crandall87 04-16-2007, 09:12 AM Don't use google adwords if you don't know what you are doing. It can eat up a lot of funds without sending too much traffic your way. Don't use popular keywords like web design and web hosting. Try to use affordable web hosting or professional web design for example. There is less competition in these fields and the amount you pay per click can be lower. seek4job 04-16-2007, 09:28 AM Press Release is one of the method to attract traffic on your site, the website of Brad Callen maybe usefully to study tactic about Press Release: http://www.pressreleasefire.com/ Amalia 04-16-2007, 09:29 AM My answer will be very succinct - no absolutely best way. If there was only one way, there wouldn't have been so many strategies to promote a site. But basically, to me, the most effective ones have proved to be link bait and content.:) topbizz 04-16-2007, 04:51 PM You can get good results promoting on and off the web. topbizz 04-16-2007, 04:53 PM PPC is good, be real careful with those guaranteed hits packages as some companies use robots to visit your site to give the impression that your site was visited by real people. markov 04-17-2007, 12:23 AM I would say article submission and directory submission are the best ways to promote a site. Even forums can also help in this aspect. Amalia 04-17-2007, 09:57 AM Wow I never knew I could write a press release. I mean I only run a fan site. But I do run many contests on my site so maybe that could help me out. I'll also look into the other ideas give. I mostly just build on word of mouth. Yes, contests are very proper for your type of website. Anyway, you can try with press releases (to get into the center of attention :)) and what else - increasing linkability in all its diverse aspects. ;) |
