Hey Guys,
I'm just about to branch out into the reseller gig (I have been in web hosting for almost a year and half and run a very profitable, debt free company - See my sig below)........

At any rate I would like your opinion on my choices of possible names for the newest aspect of my business:

http://becomeawebhost.net

or

http://multiname.net

The designs are nearly identicle but becomeawebhost.net implies that I would in fact teach a complete newbie with no prior knowledge how to run a web hosting company.

I value this communities opinion like none other, so please comment away :) ;) :stickout :D

It's a difficult job selecting a name for any venture for sure, and I like your thinking for the longer name.

Personally though, I wouldn't use it for a reseller gig.

Just to throw a spanner in the works, and in keeping with your current business name, are you aware theprimereseller.com/net/org are available?

Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback Lats, but I've already purchased the domains. I'm really fond of multiname.net as it implies the multple domain aspect of it all.

Keep 'em coming ;) :stickout

You ask for an opinion, but then act like you've already made a decision.

Well, I will offer an opinion anyway. I do not like the multiname.net name....says nothing about hosting....sounds more like you're selling domain names. Further, a .net, when there are plenty of good .com's left.

I like becomeawebhost.net better, although it does little for me, either.

Well, I'll offer a differing opinion. I like multiname.net much better. It's a good length, catchy-sounding, and memorable. I think becomeawebhost.net is kind of long and less professional sounding, like someone was really reaching to find a suitable domain....

I'd like to cast a strong vote for multiname.net. It's fairly meaningful, though not obvious, which I think is a good thing. Look at some of the most successful sites out there whose names have nothing at all to do with their business... ebay, amazon, etc. Honestly, I wouldn't resell using a site called becomeawebhost.net.

I realize you've already registered the domains, but out of everything mentioned I like theprimereseller.net/.com best. Ties into the site ya already have. Like earhost.com and earservers.com for example.

becomeawebhost.net sound dull and boring as much as its a wired name. It doesn't really mean anything... or does it?

I would rather suggest multiname.net even if it does sound as if your selling domains.

A few alternative:
multiwebhost.net \ .com
multihosting.net \ .com
multihost.net \ .com

etc etc.. you get my drift.

Selecting a new name is something that takes months, well at least for me it did. But it may be worth looking through magazines and books for insperation.

I'm receiving a large amount of interest from my existing client base for these new offerings. I think I'll do fine, just as I have in regular web hosting.

Thanks for the comments guys, it is deffinately appreciated! :) :stickout :D

Wells guys I went with http://multiname.net and site is about 90% complete. I've almost got enough orders to justify the new server plus some.

Personally, I like the idea of http://theprimereseller...goes with branding concepts with your original business.

ThePrimeHost
ThePrimeReseller
ThePrimeDeveloper (for maybe a how-to site)
ThePrime...whatever..

get the idea. Look at sitepoint.com...webmasterBASE, promotionBASE, etc....

I'm thinking of starting up a reseller business myself...so I'm on the lookout for ideas on a name.
