WLS will have definetely higher fees for a domain years... hostjet 07-10-2002, 06:49 AM i suspect the same people who rule the domain name game now, will also learn how to work the new system, if it is introduced, and will continue to dominate. apollo 07-10-2002, 07:10 AM yes, I agree.... probably, will take them a couple of weeks to become familiar.. hostjet 07-10-2002, 09:01 PM and the only difference will be that verisign will be raking in a whole lot more cash, thats if it gets the green light. Bigdave 07-11-2002, 06:05 PM Originally posted by apollo yes, I agree.... probably, will take them a couple of weeks to become familiar.. Actually, I rather believe they will be loaded for bear at the opening bell. There will be enormous demand to grab WLS subscriptions on desirable names. Since there seems to be no lottery plan, the result will be an enormous assault on the WSL registry when the gates open. It should be a sight to behold. The only thing for sure, is Verisign/Snapnames will be raking in the dough... BD  thewitt 07-11-2002, 06:36 PM Keep in mind that should it be implemented, WLS access will be through an ICANN registrar - just like RRP access is today. Users will not buy WLS subscriptions from the registry, any more than they buy domains from the registry today. The same players who are dominating in the dropped domain market using their RRP interfaces will be dominant in the WLS market - but Verisign will rake in money whether the domain is ever dropped or not, and they will make significantly more than $6 for each dropped domain. It's an attempt to pump millions of dollars into Verisign's pocket - more more, no less. -t Acroplex 07-11-2002, 11:05 PM Very true, very true.
