Please post any issues you see in this thread. Thanks! Jamie Harrop 04-10-2007, 05:10 AM Good job, Mat. The first thing I noticed were bright pink pigs with onions for feat running across my screen... then I woke up. The second thing I noticed were all those announcements on the "New Posts" page. Even on my very high resolution, the first new post is right at the bottom of my screen, so I have to scroll to see the list. Is there really a need for all those announcements on that page? HostRefugee-Vince 04-10-2007, 05:11 AM Top Right-Hand Corner: Welcome, HostRefugee-Vince! Links to: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/usercp.php$session[sessionurl_q] HostRefugee-Vince 04-10-2007, 05:14 AM Not quite a bug, just a small mistake... Someone forgot to upload the thumbnails to the store. Jamie Harrop 04-10-2007, 06:38 AM Mmm. What happened to the announcement text in the grey bar at the top? I swear it was there earlier. anon-e-mouse 04-10-2007, 06:58 AM Pics broken in IE in the Store tab. The Prohacker 04-10-2007, 07:02 AM Pics broken in IE in the Store tab. Should be fixed now! Sorry about that, I left a setting from our dev server. Project X 04-10-2007, 08:24 AM like they say, if it aint broke, dont fix it. i am glad that inet bar is ogne, but why is there so much white space at the top of the page? Jamie Harrop 04-10-2007, 08:33 AM White space? I'm not seeing any, Lauren. :s I see the blank grey bar at the top (Which is being used by iNet to post links to important announcements), but apart from that, everything looks well used to me. WireNine 04-10-2007, 08:36 AM The header is just not going well with the rest of the forums. the_pm 04-10-2007, 08:37 AM There a fair amount of white space surrounding the advertisement at the top, which is pushing the page down ~80-100 pixels more than necessary. It's a bit of an annoyance, but I can deal with it. Still, I would consider tightening that up a bit. Someone with a lower resolution might come to WHT, enter the community and not even see a single forum! There are still a few old post icons that haven't been replaced too, right? Other than that, the new design is a knockout :) Jamie Harrop 04-10-2007, 08:39 AM There a fair amount of white space surrounding the advertisement at the top, which is pushing the page down ~80-100 pixels more than necessary. It's a bit of an annoyance, but I can deal with it. Still, I would consider tightening that up a bit. Someone with a lower resolution might come to WHT, enter the community and not even see a single forum! Ah. :) Yeah, I guess there is room to reduce that some. I'm still being driven nuts by those announcements on the "New Posts" page... dollar 04-10-2007, 08:56 AM I'm still being driven nuts by those announcements on the "New Posts" page... As am I. I am in love with PM text in the e-mails though :D the_pm 04-10-2007, 09:13 AM Could the icons for Hot Threads be a little clearer? The slightly pink shade v. greyish white doesn't draw a very clear distinction. Maybe heat up the pink to a bolder reddish color? Maybe 04-10-2007, 11:59 AM Can we have it online for more than 2 seconds in a row? That would be great :) wbpro 04-10-2007, 12:00 PM I like that it looks cleaner now and the store looks cool also. Is this the upgrade we were all expecting or is there more to come? Mr. Obvious 04-10-2007, 12:11 PM Can we have it online for more than 2 seconds in a row? That would be great :) True that! I almost cried this morning when I got to work, tried to go to WHT and it went to iNet Status! I though, ok, whatever, then I went back a little later and it said database corruption! I almost died! The Prohacker 04-10-2007, 12:15 PM True that! I almost cried this morning when I got to work, tried to go to WHT and it went to iNet Status! I though, ok, whatever, then I went back a little later and it said database corruption! I almost died! Off loading searches to the slave database server has changed in 3.6.5. All searches were being ran against the master database server which eventually overloaded the server and it died. It took a forced reboot to bring the db server back online. Everything appears to be working fine now, and searches are hitting the slave server. Mr. Obvious 04-10-2007, 12:18 PM Hey, its no problem... I was just bored for a couple hours lol At least things are fixed now :D music 04-10-2007, 12:21 PM The following errors occurred with your search: The string you entered for the image verification did not match what was displayed. It is not a bug, just extra work. Also, the Media Kit link in the footer seems to have an extra space in it. Other than that I can't find anything, nice work! :agree: Jamie Harrop 04-10-2007, 12:51 PM Is it me, or did the "New Posts" function stop working when WHT came back online after the server mishap? Nich Nich 04-10-2007, 03:07 PM Bug: When you go to the Store or Find a Host, the right menu bar (which is supposed to be in the light blue) is pushed all the way down to the end of the page. This is happening in IE6 on my laptop's resolution of 1366x768. Thanks, Nich the_pm 04-10-2007, 03:10 PM I have a major, major bug for you to consider. vBulletin calls it a feature, but it is a bug. CAPTCHA text used to register and within the advanced search area is not only frighteningly easy for spammers to defeat, it is also entirely unusable by people with visual impairments, text browsers, screen readers, many mobile browsing devices and traditional browser with images suppressed. In some countries, this would be illegal. Please remove CAPTCHA in favor of the vBulletin No-Spam (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=124828) plug-in! Captcha has little effect on me, but using it is monumentally unfair to do this to a portion of the visiting audience, particularly given the fact that there's a far superior alternative available. And just to add to that... I installed No-Spam a couple of months ago and it took no more than five minutes. Five minutes of work resulted in us having zero bot registrations after the installation and a system whereby a much wider audience can easily register... and one that is legal pretty much everywhere (I presume) :) Quartz 04-10-2007, 04:30 PM I am just wondering if anyone else has noticed that the posts all feature the little - icon in reference to the Multi-Quote. When I press it, it becomes a +, but is still attached when I press the 'Post Reply' button. In one way, it could mean that the post isn't added, and by pressing the -, and becoming a +, that it is now added. However, upon further inspection, just under the large textbox under the Reply page, I see: You have selected 4 post(s) that are not part of this thread. Quote these posts as well, or deselect these posts. This issue could be resolved if the link were just changed to include the bit after the #. Could this be done? That's not possible, since the "jump to post" button jumps to posts from other threads as well as the same thread. Maybe ProSlacka could hack something up, but otherwise I don't think there's much that can be done. On the subject of the "jump to post" button, could it possibly be made a bit smaller? It seems like it's stretching the quote box, and should be the same size as the top line of text, or slightly larger. But maybe it's just me... I would have never caught it since I never look at the front end of the helpdesk! :) Thanks for the report.. amex 04-29-2007, 12:09 AM I don't know if this is caused by the upgrade but it started shortly after the upgrade: When I first view WHT via my bookmark (I stay logged in all the time) it loads just fine but when I click on a forum it just sits there for at least one minute with this screen: http://fishinghost.com/WHTcrap.gif In some cases it says loading ad juggler or something like that. I assume one or more banner ads are having problems loading. Regardless of why, it's to the point that I don't want to visit WHT any longer because it takes me forever to go through my favorite forums' posts. I'm all for advertising to pay the bills but I wish the ads would at least load in a reasonable amount of time like under 45 seconds. Am I the only one that's experiencing this? I have no problems with any other sites, just WHT. Yup I get that exact problem also - many times. catfished 04-29-2007, 09:27 AM Yup I get that exact problem also - many times. Actually, it hasn't happened to me for a few days now but it seems no one from WHT cares anyway. I would have thought someone from WHT would have acknowledged our comments with some kind of explanation. SoftWareRevue 04-29-2007, 11:25 AM Actually, it hasn't happened to me for a few days now but it seems no one from WHT cares anyway. We've narrowed it down to two candidates and will roll it out in May/June. Adjuggler issues are something we're experiencing across the network and the new platform will be better equipped to handle the load. :wht: catfished 04-29-2007, 06:12 PM Actually, installation of (and migration to) a new adserver to replace Adjuggler is something that we have to finish in the next month or so. It's really becoming a pain in the lower extremities! |
