Just download the restore CD of the RaQ4i, connect it to a compatible network card, and boot the RaQ3 from LAN. Enjoy danielbos 07-09-2002, 12:12 PM :) and there are futher no special problems reported? FiberOptic 07-09-2002, 02:34 PM Nope... At least...not that I know... To say more: there are some companies who buy RaQ3's from ebay and datacenters,.... Restore RaQ4 OS on it, and sell them again. chirpy 07-09-2002, 05:55 PM There're aren't any problems with this, it works fine. However, I would only do this for personal use if I were you. The activity that FiberOptic mentioned has been discussed on the SunCobalt mailing lists (at great length some time ago after a large hosting provider was "caught" dong this) and it was made clear that Sun check for this and won't simply give you a telling off  - apart from the fact that it's illegal and you'd be defrauding your customers. That aside, technically it works a charm :) FiberOptic 07-11-2002, 09:04 PM Okay.... So.... Sorry about the previous post of me concerning the restored RaQ4 OS... It was posted by my 5yo little sister and I'll punish her right now :) raq4less 07-11-2002, 09:54 PM Originally posted by danielbos Can i install my raq 3 with raq 4 os? Thanks in advance, Daniel Bos Sun doesn't have a problem with anyone running the Raq 4 OS on a Raq 3 with a 300mhz. Processor. As long as it is described as such. Sun will however get their "panties in a twist" is you market it as a Raq 4 just because it has the Raq 4 OS. It's all in what you say and how you say it that they care about. It's been discussed a number of times on the SUN Cobalt Forum (http://supportforum.sun.com/cgi-bin/WebX.cgi?/cobalt.raq.general) sieb 07-12-2002, 05:05 PM Yea, if you look on ebay, RaqPort has done this a couple times. I remember seeing one just the other day that was a Raq3 with the Raq4 OS on it for sale. tisk tisk... |
