LaneHost 04-07-2007, 01:32 PM Hi mega-hosting_net! Do you mean creating a custom plan for your customer? If so, I've seen quite a few hosts that do offer this. Derrick IH-Rameen 04-07-2007, 02:46 PM I don't see a problem with it as long as you set suitable restrictions with the right price. mega-hosting_net 04-07-2007, 06:15 PM What is a good size and price for a reseller zoobie 04-07-2007, 08:23 PM Only problem for the host is that the consumer makes an outrageous proposal then wonders why they get turned down. The concept is there but, like the airlines deals, rarely get accepted. I suppose there will be exceptions... RSNET-John 04-07-2007, 09:37 PM We've done this in the past and customers haven't had any complaints with it, they actually love the flexability. Atarim 04-07-2007, 09:44 PM Quite so. Just because a customer doesn't fit into one of our predefined plans is no reason to turn them away. On the contrary, it's a great way to provide real service - that is, service that meets the customer's needs. NullPointer 04-09-2007, 12:36 AM I agree. I'm encouraging custom plans on my site, though I still offer standard plans. I think there will be less complaints if the customers get what they want to begin with. The main problem is automating the process, I think. It's much easier to click a few bottons and have your service ready. If you have the people around to handle customer requests quickly then I think it will be a success. The Rover 04-09-2007, 05:58 PM The only setback to this, is that it frequently creates a barter-type scenerio. If one of your clients gets a particular price on a custom plan, then you'd better be ready to offer the same exact plan and price to another customer. Personally, we have found that a great approach is to offer our clients many different, generous plans to begin with and then let them know that we can also create a customized plan that suits their needs. If you offer a huge selection of "pre configured" plans from the start, you'll find that very few will ever require a customized plan later. |
