I just want to get some views on what providers and clients would prefer to use as there VPS control panel

Virtuozzo or HyperVM

If you have used both what would be the advantages and disadvantages of using either.

I think this would help many people that are either wanting to buy a VPS or are current providers.

I am fine with either control panel. The most important is that the VPS are running properly and stable.

Control panel should not affect the decision of the purchase of VPS.

we ran a vps business last years using both virtuozzo and hypervm and both were good.

Vitruozzo has a nicer looking UI but is a bit more costly.

I am just trying to get an idea, not only for myself but for people looking to provide or want to buy, is there any advantages and disadvantages that you can give of the panel other than the UI?

HyperVM is better for the provider as you can build and manage multiple servers from the super user. For Virtuozzo you need the VZPP for end users and VZMC or VZCP for the host. For the end user it doesn't make huge amounts of difference apart from the fact that HyperVM runs on a master node and everyone logs into the same node. For Virtuozzo the control panel is run out of the service VPS itself on the host machine and port forwarding takes care of it.

This means that if the host machine is down people have no access. Least with HyperVM the host machine can be down but they should be able to access the control panel.

Also the HyperVM backup feature is very nice for multiple nodes.

It should be noted that though if you are offering Plesk using Virtuozzo is best as it all integrates very nicely into one easy to use interface.

I was wondering, how do you manage it all from one control panel, do you need to install the software on each node then add it somewhere in the control panel?

There is a master/slave setup. There is a deamon that runs onthe remote host and then it does all the communications over that.
