Which providers should I consider hosting it with? stub 04-02-2007, 11:02 AM Sedo, GoldKey, Namedrive, Afternic. I think they all allow single domain parking. Unless your domain get's type-in or backlinks, it's a waste of time parking, new domains for example. DaKine 04-02-2007, 03:08 PM I used iMonetize as well. But I have to agree with Stu, it isn't worth the effort unless your domain name is alreay popular or gets a lot of type in traffic. I found I got better traffic by doing a one page myself and doing some basic SEO on it and place Google ads on the page. At least I am able to better control the search terms I want. I have tried all of the parking services mentioned here with very little luck. kohashi 04-03-2007, 09:36 PM I recommend iMonetize as well, should also add domainsponsor, fabulous, parked, activeaudience, dotzup, trafficz, and there are a few other major ones. However, you do need traffic. Sometimes it only takes 1 visitor a year though to convert on a high value term, so if you register in bulk often easiest to dump into PPC while you build out a 1-page adsense site to get spidered and indexed. Pros: easy, register, point dns, add them to system, kick back and relax. great passive revenue stream, most automatically optimize keywords and some like imonetize test other services and feeds to maximize your revenue across all domains (not all parking is equal in terms of layout, conversion and payout). no upkeep, if you got a name getting traffic just keep renewing it and watch checks come in, you rarely need to lift a finger and can work on other projects Cons: search engine rankings are often lost, some parking providers actually do well on some terms and some layouts though. you need traffic. no visitors=no money. ppc rarely builds traffic (currently... this could always change :) ) stub 04-03-2007, 09:53 PM you need traffic. no visitors=no money. ppc rarely builds traffic (currently... this could always change) Agreed. As a general rule, you'll lose traffic when parking domains. And I repeat, it's a waste of time parking newly regged domains. They must have existing traffic by way of type-ins or backlinks for them to be successful being parked. pmaverick123 04-09-2007, 05:11 AM Parking sucks, its better to do excellent marketing of your domain if you wish to sell it. good luck Right Hosting 04-09-2007, 11:27 AM I have also found out the hard way, stay away from parking, your much better spending time on other things. kohashi 04-09-2007, 01:29 PM Parking in and of itself isn't a 'bad' thing for monetizing domain names. It just has a condition of traffic (primarily type in), if your domain names don't meet that criteria then you should look elsewhere. Targetted names with traffic do extraordinarily well, by that I mean CTRs well over 50% (some nearing 100%) on the targetted keywords. It is hard to approach that sort of CTR on any sort of 'developed' website. |
