View Full Version : Domain Reselling
ActivateDomain 02-16-2001, 10:07 AM I would like to add the ability to sell domain registration to my clients.
One option of course is Tucows OpenSRS, but this cost a bit of upfront money from what I understand.
Does anyone know of any kind of reseller program for domain registration?

Timothy 02-16-2001, 10:22 AM You may want to look at http://enom.com if you haven't already. I'm in the process of getting started with them.
Chicken 02-16-2001, 11:13 AM I thought there was another post about this but I can't seem to find it. Other places to check out:
http://www.itsyourdomain.com
http://www.domainbank.com
-any of the other biggies generally offer some sort of program. Check ICANN accredited registrars and see which program you like better.

I think there was too. I know there were some at Sitepoint, but I thought I saw some here too :)
stevem01 02-19-2001, 01:11 AM Try http://www.b2bnameregistration.com (NameRegistrars)...
It costs 20 bucks 1 time fee to sign-up and everything is fully branded for resellers. I checked them out and am probably going to use them sometime in the future.
You can also resell expired domains there and no bulk purchases are required either. Worth a look...
Hope this helps,
Chicken 02-19-2001, 09:18 AM That's OLM's baby in case anyone wondered about who these people were, etc.
ActivateDomain 02-19-2001, 09:25 AM Thanks for all the info..
I checked out all the suggestions and I have it down to 2 options:
http://www.itsyourdomain.com
http://www.b2bnameregistration.com
I like "OLM's baby" as it was put because of the low rgistration cost for each domain, plus it get's cheaper as you build your client base...
Anybody else tried either of these companies before?

for b2bblahblah, you need a merchant account. something i cant afford now:
Seamless integration with most merchant payment systems
The LinkPoint online payment system that we currently offer will allow your customers to register domain names in real-time. You should make sure that your account always has sufficient funds to process registrations. When there are funds available in your account, customer's credit cards are processed in real-time, and domains are registered immediately. If you already have an online merchant account that does not use the LinkPoint service, but would like us to integrate it with your custom front end, please email us the information from the login email sent to you when you set-up your merchant account. If you currently don't have a merchant account and are a US resident, we can provide you with one, for a one-time set-up fee of only $179.95.
fastquest 02-19-2001, 03:05 PM The OpenSRS is probably the best solution. Domain cost is only $10 per domain. Granted it you have to buy domains upfront i think it is $250 for a block of 25 domains. they also give you client software to register, manage, and transfer domains. We have been using them for a while now and we have not had any problems. if someone knows of a better program, Post it.
Bubba 02-19-2001, 03:19 PM You might want to try http://www.AllDomains.com The domains are $12/yr. with a one time membership fee. The alternate domain search engine is pretty good too.
I recently signed up with them and so far so good. Instant registration, fast propagation and good customer service. In fact I had a goofy problem and called a couple times and got right through.

ActivateDomain 02-19-2001, 03:31 PM Yes I agree OpenSRS would be the best option.. but again it comes down to the money...
I just can't spend that much right now.. maybe I will look into open SRS in the future but for now I thing "OLm's" service will do..

milkMan21 02-20-2001, 01:42 AM what about http://www.joker.com ?
I've registered my domain there..
Raven 02-20-2001, 06:47 AM Tossing in my support for AllDomains.Com.
It costs something like $75 to get started but the domains propogate *fast* and the web-control panel is fantastic.
Also if you register 50 domains in one month your price drops permanently.

akashik 02-20-2001, 07:44 AM All Domains is something I've been looking at, as well as domainpeople. Anyone have a comparison of those two?

Synergy 02-20-2001, 12:34 PM Dotster lets you buy buil accounts to resell them and they also gives you the scripts to register domain names through their systerm.
Check out http://www.dotster.com
akashik 02-20-2001, 01:14 PM Synergy,
They give a script now? I checked them a while ago but all I downloaded from the site was a huge API that made no sense at all to me. I'll take another look I think - they just redid the whole site so they might have a stack of new toys in there :)
If they do I'll be looking at that for sure. Every domain I own is on their books.

rajiv 02-21-2001, 04:20 PM Check out http://www.dotregistrar.com
There prices are cheap
JustinH 02-28-2001, 03:49 AM I'd suggest IARegistry (http://www.iaregistry.com/partner.html) the most you pay is $10.50 per domain and they only require 1 domain registration per month. Once you get up 1000+ domains per month you only have to pay $8.00 per month.
Seems pretty cheap but we haven't integrated just yet, support has been pretty good too.
