I'm looking for either a click-to-call service that will allow:

- A number of graphics on my website 'W'
- Each graphic is coded with a different 'number' assigned to each 'B'
- Connection 'C' to 'B' on click
- Call via VoIP to land lines and mobiles (if practicle)
- Potentially thousands of 'C's and 'B's
- Detail tracking and billing to 'W'

Should be cheap to setup and deploy each 'number'. Call rates should be 'reasonable'.

Is it cheaper / almost as cheap to set up my own application?

Something like Estara (which is really expensive)

Asterisk. Is using a few (3-4) 800 numbers and an Asterisk box that terminates to VoIP a better approach?

Do you really need click to call? There is altleast 1 already been designed for asterisk using Java http://www.mexuar.com/ for click to call. But that assumes they have a headset etc. Might be asier to have toll free #'s via voip to your system then forward them to where they need to be. It's quite possible but depends what land lines/modules you want to reach and the price points you can get for the toll free inbonud legs and outgoing calls to landlines and mobiles.

Hi wsuff,

I'm not sure which setup is easiest and more economical in the long run. But the type click-to-call I am referring to generates a call to whoever initiated the contact, then apparently connects to the party they intended to call .. landline to landline.

Also the system would need to work with 'regular telephone' to 'regular telephone'.

One assumed negative with the c-c .. I would be more at the mercy of the provider. I would guess that a re-deploy of several thousand numbers might be a nightmare.

I have trouble talking to these providers since many of them seem to refuse to speak plain english in their email contact.

I was on the Asterisk email list for over a year, and those guys talk so 'tech' that a non tech person has a hard time understanding.

One of the things that seemed to be required was a dedicated server just for Asterisk. Apparently Asterisk doesn't like anything 'disturbing' the state of the server.

I've figured out that for starters 2-3 ea 800 numbers would be sufficient. And 800 numbers make a good way to track contacts, billing, etc. As far as cost, all the calls would be US to US.

I'm not sure what the inbound numbers / monthly would cost, but I can live with standard VoIP termination to landlines .. outbound termination to mobiles is not required(?) as they are B&M businesses.

Using toll free #'s plus an Asterisk system also does some other good things.

Yup I'm on those lists too and speak the technical mess too. But hard to say what you are really after here. If you wish to follow this up via PM vs public that's fine too.

You don't even have to use asterisk there are other application depending the exact requirements or how big this is. It might even be possibly to get someone else to manage the technical side of it for you and you just focus on your unique niche in the market. The only real problem I see is if you don't know any better the costs can be all over the place and that might limit how successful the project becomes.

Customer calls TF or even local phone # that hits your server and that forwards it to where it goes.

or

Customer fills out form on site. System calls customer back and connects call to the proper person based on what they are inquiring on.

Wish I could be more help but hard to see exactly what you are after from the information provided so tried to answer it in general terms.

Yes, Asterisk should be comparable plus its opensource...
