View Full Version : Redundant VPS's

Hello Guys,

During the past few days, I had been pondering over this strategy and I think it will be worthwhile for me in the long run. I have most of my site hosted with one VPS provider and surely there was a downtime of more than 24 hours (due to some major failure on their equipment). Now everything is fine and knowing they are working on it long and hard, I decided to stick with them.

Anyway, in any case, I was still thinking of getting another VPS and sync all my sites there (including those of my clients) while still retaining the ones I have. I'll be setting up two more nameservers on that VPS.

Would that pose any problem when both sites are up? I mean, having 4 nameservers at two different VPS affect anything like when we do some updates on the site? What should I look out for?

All I just wanted was having the 2nd VPS as a backup and be pro-actively online once the 1st VPS goes down.

Hope someone can shed light on this for me.

Honestly, you will need to do something way more complex than what you have described above. I'd just pick a more reliable provider.

24 hours of downtime is inexcusable IMHO.

thanks layer0.

but still whatever provider i choose there will be some sort of down time and that would be a problem really.

what would you guys recommend? I've heard about grid hosting or something... are these reliable?

I just need something simple...
